When I Google Map it, that address comes up a vacant lot in a residential area. Muskogee is about a 2 1/2 hour drive for me. I can't get away in time today and tomorrow we have a massive snow storm coming in. Muskogee is about 1/2 way between Tulsa and Ft. Smith. Maybe there is someone here who would be closer?? Still, it doesn't look like the car is at the address posted so it would likely be a wild goose chase unless the seller decides to start returning calls. o No:
FINALLY got some sort of response. The seller sent a message through eBay asking for my number again, said the owner has been getting a lot of calls and may have turned the phone off. o No: Anyway, he said he would pass my number along and ask the owner to call.... Sheesh, no reserve auction that's nearly over and snow coming in. Looks like it's a "buy sight unseen" or "forgettaboutit" situation.
I was shocked it went for that. I know of a restored GSX with exact same setup for 75K. This makes Dale Noble's car http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=162002 look like a real buy. Mark
:gp: That's a lot of dough for a car needing to be restored. Wonder what brought on the extra 30k in the last hour ? Maybe there is a trunk full of gold ? Or someone wanted one of your and Duane's commemorative license plates really bad .. DL
Thats is over twice as much as I paid for mine. UnbelieveableThen you have to spend a bunch:dollar: to bring it up to snuff.
Okay, I was one of the bidders on the car. I was the bidder in at $28,201.00. Last night I got a second chance offer from the seller for guess how much? $28201. So what do we make of that? Does that mean that the flurry of activity in the last hour to the tune of nearly 30k was all sham bids placed by four different friends? Or does that mean that maybe the auction was a scam. Or maybe the car doesnt exist. Or, maybe there are major problems with it that weren't disclosed in the auction? Who knows. I tried to talk to the seller/owner from the very first day the car was on eBay and could never get any response until the very end.... when there wasn't enough time left to go see the car. I have to wonder if it was planned that way. I almost feel like accepting the 2nd chance offer and saying I will not be giving a deposit and I will pay for it when I get there to pick it up. Then if it's not there or not as represented I just simply walk away. I really wouldn't mind going to see it and if it is as it appears I do believe it to be worth 25-30k. What do you guys think?
Jacquie Your plan sounds good if you still want the car. See it first than hand over deposit and money considering how this auction played out
Make sure that the second chance offer comes thru E-bay. Only if it comes thru your mail on "My E-bay" should it be considered real. Alot of second chance offers come from scammers outside e-bay.
That was the first thing I did...it's a legit offer coming through eBay. I went ahead and accepted the 2nd Chance offer. The car is only a couple hours away so we will go have a look at it, hopefully tomorrow - IF the seller gets in touch. EDIT: Nevermind. I guess someone else already bought it. LOL - probably someone here who read this post.
I'm just floored by the price for a car that needs a bunch of work - probably at least 40% more work than meets the eye. o No:
