In no way at all am I an expert on these, I am learning though. And in the last few years I have done way too much computer time researching all I could on GSX's. I have a few pictures with QQ trim tags, one is off a car I know was real, the other I just pulled off the internet. Both have that strange q-q- in them???? They both are March cars. This one on ebay is April. Mine does not have that dash after the qq and is an April car also. Jim? Wayne? anybody else, lets hear the explanation. .
Looks like a real GSX to me. The seller has over 4,000+ ebay transactions with a 100% positive rating so that's a good sign.
the explanation is as follows... paint code is identified as... lower body color <dash> upper body color <dash> PNT (for paint) My car (11D) doesn't have the dashes, but of the GSX cowl tags I've seen, they all do.
Looks real to me. It's just had a rough life. Looks like the hood was replaced somewhere down the road. That hood tach hole is a real butcher job.
It looks real but it seem like a lot of money for the shape its in especially with a Non Original Motor, I'd love to see Buick's commanding this kind of money but I don't think the world has caught on just yet. I hope it sells
That is interesting. I have never noticed the dash between the "Q-Q" and PNT. Mine doesn't have it. And yes, tags on Flint built cars were masked, and should show paint only on the edges.
Our X doesn't have the extra dash either, built 4th week of april gary ---------- Post added at 11:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:24 PM ---------- This past may I passed on a white 70 X I found next to a garage that needed about the same amount of work,he wanted $15k for it.Non #'s car.I couldn't justify spending $40k on a good total resto (not concours) on a car that when finished is worth $50k+, in todays market. He did sell it for near his price,so what do I know.ou: gary
View attachment 232397 And yes, tags on Flint built cars were masked, and should show paint only on the edges.[/QUOTE] I have heard this before but 2 of the cars I've owned were untouched original and the tags were painted all black. Both were early production 1970 Flint built cars. I have pictures of a 70 x tag that is 1/4 body paint and rest is bare metal and I believe it was done at the factory like that. I have not found this tag rule always true. Kraig
I have another '04A' X that has Q-Q-PNT Guess it was the worker's whim, whoever was making the tags that week o No:
That could be the case Marco. I need to keep telling myself "Never say never" "Never say always". I guess I should quantify my statements with "From my experience". The Ebay GSX looks legit to me, and I was not there when they were built. It is interesting to track all the variations that occurred in the construction of these cars, and I continue to learn about them all the time.
