Up for sale is my 1970 non-numbers matching GS350.

The car is an early 1970 GS350, originally Seamist Green/White vinyl top. Still those colors. Has pointed lense cluster with non working clock and plastic radiator cover.

Its got a non numbers matching built 350, with TRW Forged Pistons and as far as I can calculate, a true 10:1 CR. It runs a Poston GS114 cam, Poston S-Divider intake, a John Osborne built Q-jet, Crane XR-i converted distributor, 34 total all in by 1600rpm. Crane Adjustable VA isn't hooked up but is there. Postons Headers and a full Flowmaster American Thunder series 3" exhaust with 30 series mufflers is in very good condition. The headers probably need to be replaced but do the job, they are just banged up on the bottom. The original 350 windowed the block in 2003 while Chris Lott owned it.

Transmission is not numbers matching, but came out of a 1970. Its a TH350 built by Phil Green's (TXGS) uncle. Its got a mild shift kit, and a 2000rpm stall converter. Could use a little bit more converter.

Rear end is an 8.5 with a fresh and tight posi with 3.42 gears.

Suspension was rebuilt with all poly bushings. There's no squeeks at all, but for some reason when the suspension was done the springs and shocks were not replaced.

Original options were Metallic green Deluxe interior, AC (not working but all there), power brakes, power steering, sport steering wheel, day/night mirror, and I think thats about it. It did come originally with a 3.42 posi but I believe that was standard in GS's in 1970. It also has a passenger side mirror, but I believe that was standard on GS's as well. It came with 14" rallye wheels, which I still have and use. They are in good shape... local car show usable but not concourse.

Problems that I know with the car. Seems like the engine is missing something - needs some tuning and I think port work would do it wonders. Still feels strong but not as strong as it should. I dont think its anything serious - maybe even something as small as going back to a stock ntake or putting on a 1" spacer. I may do this before it sells. Runs and idles great, I drive it pretty much every day now that I've got the bugs worked out.

Car could use some wiring. Engine harness and taillight harness seem a bit beat up. It keeps blowing one of the taillights and I haven't had the chance to trace why its doing it. No major electrical problems, though, just typical 35 year old dry climate stuff.

ITs got an aftermarket CD player right now, but I've got the original Sonomatic stereo.

Needs new controls for the AC/Heater/Vents/Fan. Heater works but the switches are broken or breaking. I may be able to provide this with the car, I'll have to ask the local BUick guy if he's got one.

Car has hail damage. According to most of the people that have seen it, it should be able to be taken care of by the Dent Doctor. Its the hood, trunklid, and chrome trim mainly. One or two small dents on the tops of the doors and tops of the fenders. I can try to get photos of this.

Its a vinyl top car that needs a new vinyl top and hence has some VERY MINOR vinyl top problems, mainly small amounts of bubbling below the vinyl top trim on the passenger side fender. I'll get some photos of this.

There in a small amount of bubbling in the paint behind the drivers side wheel, however, there is no rust on the backside. There is also no bondo what-so-ever in this car. Its EXTREMELY solid. Spent all of its life except the last year in So. California and Texas. Floors are solid, trunk is very solid, only minor rusting is in the battery tray, and even then thats solid.

Rear seat needs the original vinyl.

Car was in a minor front end colission at some point, bumper is pushed in and cracked and the GS grill is cracked. Both still present themselves well from a distance and hold in perfectly fine. Grill is easily repairable.

I've replaced the steering box, fuel pump, carb, done the distributor work, cleaned up the interior, cleaned up the bumpers, fixed some small wiring problems, new coil, new tires, replaced the master cylinder with a new brodix unit and the brake booster with one from Then and Now (stage-x on this board).

Comes with a new white vinyl top, and the correct pattern rear seat vinyl. It also comes with the original to the car carburetor, intake, Sonomatic radio, and a sloan build sheet on the car.

I can't take any less than 10,000, so I am firm on that price. Car could easily be cruised or driven daily, and with the dent repair and vinyl top repair... would be perfect for local car shows. I envision this as a mostly done performance 350 build that just needs some finishing. I am only selling it because I can't work on it because of health problems, and I can't stand to see it sit in my garage and not get finished like a car this solid deserves to be.

Eric, sorry to hear that you have health problems, hope it's nothing too serious. First the WRX, now the GS. Hope to hear that you get another Buick soon so you can join us (Upstate NY Chapter BCA) at upcoming events. You gonna check out Lake George this weekend? Good luck with your health and selling the car, she's a beauty and will make someone very happy.

Thanks Gary :TU: Nothing too serious, and the only reason I'd sell this car is to buy another Buick (and I actually prefer a trade, so I dont have to go through two steps). The health issues just keep me from working on it. I figure if it doesn't sell by Christmas time, I'll get the dent medic to come take out the hail damage, and if I can squeeze it in the budget, get the top replaced and the small paint problems fixed. Its going to the mechanic today for a run through of all the little problems to try to cure them. I wish I could do it myself, but I just can't right now. Looking to get into something a bit older - like a mid 60's A-body instead of the 70-72's. Also something a bit more finished than mine.

I've been in constant contact with John DeFiore about joining the BCA, and he even said I didnt need a Buick to be in it! Just to have an interest or to formerly own a Buick. He helped me greatly with some stuff so the least I can do is join the club and show my support. It might just be in a Subaru for a bit.

I am headed out of town for my birthday weekend so I wont be hitting LG, but with any luck before the season is over I'll get a Buick (if not this one) out on the town a bit, so keep your eyes open. Thanks again.

TTT, really need to sell the car as other cars are popping up. Car is at the mechanic getting run through. I recieved the trim and will take photos of it when I get a second. Also, have wiring harness' on the way here and will have my mechanic replace the engine harness. Not sure if I can convince him to replace the taillight harness but I believe he is going to do his best to repair it. He is 30+ years in the business, and I have first hand experience with the cars he's restored, so I have full confidence in his abilities.

    Eric,
How extensive is the hail damage? The pictures dont really show the
extent and severity. Do these need to be hammered out? That certainly would affect the paint although some rust issues would have to be addressed eventually so a respray is in the future. Is 10k still your absolute minimum?
I would be interested if you are willing to negotiate on the price.
    Thanks
    Willem

    Willem,
Thank you for your interest in the car. The hail damage is on most of the top surfaces of the car. The hood really is the worse hit. Being a vinyl top car, you can't tell anything ever happened by looking at the roof (although, as I stated before, the vinyl is fairly rough anyway). From what people from here that have seen the car in person say, most of the damage could probably be taken out by paintless dent removal. I haven't had any paintless dent people look at it because at the moment I can't afford to have them do the work (3, maybe 400 dollars worth). To make the car a show car, you are correct, it will need at least a partial respray, but to blast it down the track or take it to cruise nights its pretty good as is or after replacing the top. I have tried to get photos of the hail damage as best as I can and its not easy to get. The best bet would be to have someone in my local area (there are a couple on the board that I'd be able to bring the car to), or who has seen the car also give you their opinion and description. To be completely honest, it would probably be cheaper to go with a fiberglass GS hood than to have the metal repaired, but all of the other hail damage would be an easy repair or replacement.

I am negotiable on the price within reason. There has been some local interest since the car has been sitting at the mechanics, but no real biters. If you'd like to discuss more, please feel free to email me at ericsabo@gmail.com

    Thanks again for your interest,
    Eric

Eric, I think Dent Wizard travels to most new car dealers and they can give you some idea of the cost to repair the damage. I have used them and they can do some great work.

    Thanks Gary,
I plan on getting an estimate after I get it back from the mechanic, hopefully some time next week. He's replacing the rag joint in the steering shaft, fixing some wiring issues (mainly ground problems, from what I hear, but I have another harness coming incase he needs parts or the whole thing). He's going to replace the voltage regulator and do a bit of fine tuning timing and carb wise. He's also hooking up an electric choke for me so it will be a bit less cold blooded. I looked up the Dent Wizard and there is one up here in Queensbury/Glens Falls. Unless you have a recommendation to one you've worked with before :TU: If its under or close to 300 I could probably squeeze it into the budget. If the car isn't gone by December then I will have to take a loan out and do the body work it needs (last time I had it estimated it was around 1500 worth, at the beginning of this summer).

Got the car back and it runs like a top. I've been driving it everywhere that I can over the past few days to work any bugs out and make sure everything is good.

Ended up going through and checking every wire, fixed every ground he could find, changed the steering centerlink/rag joint so the car is super tight now (feels like driving a new car), adjusted, changed a line, and rebled the brakes, figured out a choke set up for the carb, and did some fine tuning and testing of the ignition system... everything checks out and the way its been running for the past couple of days I'd be happy to drive it anywhere.

to those that have contacted me concerning the car, its still around and will probably head to ebay next week if I get nothing this week. I really really would rather it go to someone here. If it doesn't sell at all by Christmas I will do the body work and relist it next year for more money (obviously, since it will then have the body work done).

My price is negotiable and I won't be offended by any offers, but understand that I can't go too low.
