i have a chance to buy a 1970 Stage 1 motor and another identical short block from a local guy for 1000.00.The 1 engine is carb to pan and the other is just a short block.Good deal?i think so.But i need head and block casting numbers from someone who knows so i make sure i am getting what he says it is.It would be right at home in my 1966 Special :Brow: :laugh: :eek2:All 510 ft.lbs of it!!!
On the back below the intake 1231738 on the block. SS code stamped on the deck betwen the two back cylinders , drIvers side. Heads could be 1231786, 1240144 or 1240149 To be sure you need to look at the face of the valves. 1112016 on the distrib. DEEP SUMP ON THE FUEL PUMP. Great deal if true.
