First of all, this is a 70 GS 350 with AC.

I really didn't want to get into this project, but now it looks like I have to. I need to replace the Heater Core but there's one *&^%$#@ screw that I can't get to and the manual calls for taking the dash pad out, as well as a lot of the guts related to the heating/ac system behind the dash.

I hoping this is a pretty straight forward project. Start with the panel below the steering wheel, and slowly remove the screws that hold the dash pad in? What are the tricks? The pad is held with with a combination of screws and pins, right?

I'm afraid of breaking more things, since that is all I have been doing in trying to replace this *&^%$ heater core.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'll be posing what I broke in the Parts Wanted section.

Also, any place to get new duct work (Rock Auto, Year One, Cars, etc.) is also appreciated.

This POS may be for sale soon.

Thanks George - this is a huge help to know where the studs are and where the clips are so that I don't break anything else off.

Korrie - the link didn't seem to work, I've searched for heater core removal on this site so 'm assuming it's the same article I found that actually clued me in to the screw at the top of the heater box.

Thanks to the both of you.

Just take your time. Don't forget the screws at the top of the bezel. I don't envy you working on an A/C car :(

That one screw was the death of me - I finally got to it and the heater box came right out. Now, I have to repair all that I broke and start putting it back together.

The whole behind the dash thing, is another project, but for now I want to get the heater core replaced, AC box back on so that I can re install the engine and trans.

    Whew.

    Thanks for your help though.
