Offering for sale a 1970 GS 455 Stage 1. The car was recently acquired from the original owner. It shows 82,000 miles on the odometer. The vehicle was purchased new in Chicago and spent its first 8 years there and then resided in ND. This is a very solid car bearing its original paint. It runs and drives. After sitting for some years it fired right up when tried. I have the original dealer invoice, protec-o-plate, window sticker and a notebook listing mileage every time gas was put in the car since it was new! Also have some other misc. documentation and I have not looked for the build sheet. The car experienced an engine knock with 8,624 miles and went to dealer for repair. At that time they rebuilt engine. 3 months later still had the problem and went back to dealer with 10,629 mile and the short block was replaced under warranty. I have the invoices from both repairs. There was a set of Kenne Bell stage III heads installed in 1974 for which have all literature. The original heads and exhaust manifolds were saved and go with the car. The tranny is correct BB code and carb # is correct. I have not pulled distributor to check its # but given originality and history that was told from original owner I have no reason to believe that wouldn't be correct. Although a restoration is needed what an amazing starting point, a complete original running and driving car, a true barn find. Price is $19,000. Car is located in SE MN and I will answer any questions that you may have, thanks for looking.
Let me know what the best you could do. Also hows the floors trunk core support etc. I am definately interested. Also what options? Thanks Glenn.
How is the area behind the rear window, battery tray, core support and right inner fender? How much have you driven the car much? What I am wondering is if it can be driven as is or needs to be taken apart right away. I am interested, wherever that puts me in line.
Thanks for the responses. The rear window area looks good. The right w/s pillar interior trim is a little rusted at bottom but from what can see of pinchweld itself looks good. The core support appears good but the battery tray has rust. I think that with cleanup and tune-up a pesron could drive this car. I have not cleaned at all since getting and sat for about 5 years prior to that. I have only had it around the block a few times.
Have been getting inquires about option load so I am including photos of window sticker, all options listed are still present, this is an unmolested car.
This car should absolutely be saved! I wish I could buy it - I see Mt. Prospect, IL on the window sticker. That had to be Joe Mitchell Buick - a dealer that just closed and had its "brand" rolled into one of the last stand-alone Pontiac dealers - Sullivan in Arlington Heights. (I bet Sullivan is thankful for that now!) Joe Mitchell for many years had a big plastic elephant on a trailer in front of the show room and was where as a 20 year old I went and looked at a row of GN's and T-types - I digress. No cruise control on the sticker, but I think I see a module on the inner driver's side fender? The car has power locks (on a 2-door) but no power windows? No rear defroster on an IL car, also strange. Let me stress again - a great car to save!
Jason, The family told me that I wanted to stay on course and purchase a newer vehicle that would not require so much of my time. This is a good opportunity for someone to own a very special car, good luck with the sale. Your GTO has my interest, please hang onto my info and keep me posted on the progress of it. Best regards, Allen Mandeen
I am lowering the price to $16,500. I had alot of irons in the fire at time of purchase and is now getting in way of completing other projects.
