I thought I'd go and have a look at the weekly police auction where they auction cars every week. I've never been before and I had no idea what to expect. There's about 60 cars and 150 people all walking around sniffing at them. Nothing really interesting at all, until I stumble on this 70 Firebird. It was rough but if it would go for nothing I thought I'd stick around to see to see how this could go. It would be cool car just to drive and never fix anything on except the absolutely necessary parts. I took some pictures of it and I thought maybe someone here could kind of estimate how much it would be worth. They started the car and it sounded fine, it went forwards and backwards but that was all we got to see. The hood was a fiberglass version, and some people suggested it had a chevy 350 in it, you can probably decide on this from the pics. I liked it, even though it looked like it almost had been circle track raced. On the last post I'll put the price it went for.

OK, so what did it sell for? I'll guess $1,500.

Sounds like a screaming deal to me. That is a Pontiac engine in there, BTW. Should have bought it. Parts alone are worth that.

That was going through my head, but I don't have access to any imediate storage and the car had to be out within af few hours. There's also no $ around for another car at the moment, if I'd been living in a house with a backyard to put it in, I'd have my girlfriend get it, and she would probably drive it as it is too, would be funny to have that thing next to her lexus as her second car. For parts, yep you could probably squeeze it for more cash, but to me it feels like those things take time. Someone needs one piece here another one there, then another one in three months to someone else and so on.

Man,I would have pulled every penny out of my account for that car.I don't really care about the work needing to be done. The 70 to 73 Firebirds are my ultimate favorite car of all time.I had a couple, but had to give them up when me and my first wife split.Man,such a heartbreaker.

    Yep, Poncho motor..

I've got a buddy with a 73 Superduty 455 T/A that is in paint jail right now. It will be for sale after it gets painted.

    If anyone's interested PM me.

    Sorry, now back on topic.

Looks like someone got a deal. Needs work, but worth saving..

    yea buddy

You didn't say it was a Formula Firebird... Those pics. bring back memories. A buddy of mine had one w/ a 400 motor & 4 speed. That car would just plain smoke the tires all the way through 3rd gear. Cool!! :TU:

That'll be a slick car if it gets fixed up.
