    need some help here
is a 70 frame the same for all three bodies?
2 door, 4 door, and convertible?
    the final question is...
can i put a convertible body on a 4 dorr frame?
    thanks as always

I don't think so. I believe the 4 door frame is longer and I also think the convertible frame is built heaver. I could be wrong.

    1970 Electra 2dr & 4dr use the same"open" frame.
    Code "BY" also stamped 1235666

Convertible uses a "closed" or "boxed" frame.
    Code "BX" also stamped 1235667.

GM/Buick also states '69 & '70 use the same frame.

A little info to help with your decision :TU:

But the model year 1970 Electra has a 127 inches wheelbase.
Model years 1969 has a 126.2 inches wheelbase.
Model year 1968 has a 126 inches wheelbase.

    Try this - Gm/Buick states as a replacement part the '69 & '70
use the same frame part number.

In 1972 Buick did not see a problem with the .8 inch difference between the '69 and '70 years.

The wheelbase is somewhat dependent on the control arms used. Longer rear arms will increase the wheelbase without changing the frame.

i'm pretty sure the 70 frame length was the same regardless of the configuration...
    (2 door/4 door/convert)
you guys have me spooked with "open" frame/ "boxed" frame
if the part number is the same, i'm confused
is there a unique convertible frame?
don't want to put the convert body on the four door frame and end up with a problem

Answer is right there. Converts used a boxed type frame to give more support since the body doesn't have a roof to provide rigidity.
