That is not the correct number for that application assuming that is what you are thinking. If you got that from a websitte they may have copied it from one of Dove's books which is also incorrect. Thw correct number is 1112016 and they are chicken lips. Take a look here for the correct numbers: http://www.stage1registry.com/stage1info.html
Think that 1111962 would be for a '69 Stage 1 and 1112016 would be for a '70 - '72 stage 1 Shows that way in parts book, Group # 2.361
Jim (and Korrie) is correct Hal - you need 1112016 for your application. My early 1970 chassis manual also states 1111962 for the 1970 stage1 cars, but the manual was meant to be in the mechanic's hands prior to the cars being delivered and the actual part used was different.
I dunno, I have a 1111962 distributor with a September 1969 date on it. It was in a 1970 Stage 1 car. From what I understand the only difference is the '70-'72 units had a points shield installed while the '69 units didn't. Ironically, the one I have does have the points shield and appears identical to the 1112016 unit. I learned a long time ago, never say never when it comes to cars!
I do not dispute what you have Greg as there could nave been a short transition period. I know I have a 2016 distrib. on a 70 stage 1 that is dated at least as early as October 1969 and perhaps in September. I will have to look at it calculate the exact date again date. I will post that information. It could be they depleted the stock of left over 69 units at the beginning of the 70 model year. Who else has an August or September built 70 stage 1 car that can post their distrb. number?
The one I have may have been a carry over unit, or a replacement part... who knows! If I can dig it out of its hiding place I'll get a picture or two.
