Re: 1970 Buick Stage 1 Carburator 7040246 The market will determine its value. If no one buys at the # then its too high, very simple. If some one has to have it to complete a restoration then they'll buy and the value is set there. I've sold 3 stage1 carbs over the last 2 years, 1 for $2100, 1 for $2300, and 1 I didn't want to sell but was offered $2700 for it due to the very early date code. So what is the value of a stage carb, who knows.
This one does appear to be correct. It was listed before on a regular auction, but bids didn't go over $200 and the seller pulled it before end of auction and listed it with this buy it now price. Is it worth it? Like was mentioned, for the correct restoration of a valuable car, it might be to the right person. Any Buick Quadrajet can be set up to the "Stage 1" spec, but the original code number stamp gives it the value.
Chris is correct. I have a 70, 71 & 73 Stage 1 carbs and two Stage 1 distributors. Also if you look a few lines down you see in red: Cash discount Nelson
Whats the matter with this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/291728628376?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649
A lot of incorrect parts on that. The baseplate being the most obvious. Is it me or is the numbers making up the casting numbers look crooked? Sends up some red flags to me
Main body appears to be 72-74 based on fuel filter housing. Air horn pictures are blurry, so cant verify POE location, which was under air valves on Stage 1.
stage1 is the only place I've seen it, with one exception Only exception I've seen is that 1971 GS 455 manual trans carbs 7041243 also have the POE holes under the flaps.
The Pull Over Enrichment transfer holes were also under the air valves on manual trans carbs from 70-72 that I have seen. CarCrazy, these POE holes on most Quadrajets were placed over the secondary air valves. Some were placed inline with the valve, and a few below. Pontiac even had the massive slot in the air valves. Purpose is similar to accelerator pump shot for the secondaries. The quicker the hole is exposed to the air flow of secondary opening, the quicker the shot of fuel is applied.
