Hi guys, I have finally finished my 70 Buick Stage 1 Tribute but life changes have made me decide to sell it. I have the full description below but please feel free to PM me or give me a call at 512-565-8893 with any questions. The vehicle is located in Austin, TX and the price is $17,500.

Over the past 6 years I have transformed this rust free 1970 Buick Skylark and have restored it as if it started life as its 1970 GS 455 Stage 1 brother. I had it repainted in its original Burgundy Mist / White painted Top color combination and it retains the almost completely original black bench seat interior. I have been extremely particular when purchasing and installing parts to make this as close to a 1970 GS455 Stage 1 as possible. I hate to sell it but I need room in the garage. This is not a frame off concours restoration however it is a very high quality and thorough restoration that would not look out of place at any large car show. I will go through the Body, Interior and Driveline below as best as I can. I have tried to list all the new parts but there are tons of small items missing from that list. Please call me at 512-565-8893 if you have any questions prior to bidding.

    Body

The 70 skylark I started with was extremely solid and required virtually no rust repairs. There are no weak spots on the body and the floorboards are rock solid. I had the body disassembled and repainted professionally 5 years ago. The panels were straight as an arrow but the paint had succumbed to the Texas sun and was faded. The only real rust repair came from the inner fender well where the battery sits and almost all of them rust. I had the inner fender removed, repaired with a perfect piece and painted.

The main body was repainted in the original Buick Burgundy Mist and the top was painted in white as it was ordered from the factory with this car. I would consider the paint to be an 8.5-9 out of 10 and when you look down any side it is straight as an arrow. The painter did an amazing job with not only the initial paint but the final polish resulting in a beautiful finish with very little texture in the paint whatsoever. There is one small chip in the paint near the driver’s door which I have a picture of below. Remember that this is not a concourse paint job and it was done 6 years ago so it is not 100% perfect however it is extremely nice.

I had both the front and rear bumpers professionally rechromed and they are incredible looking. All new emblems, lenses and a reproduction grill finished off the exterior. I collected every piece of GS trim necessary to make this a complete 70 Stage 1 Tribute and I think the attention to detail shows in the completed product.

    Interior

This interior was in excellent shape when I began my restoration. The two biggest things I replaced was the carpet and I had a reproduction front seat cover installed. I refinished the dash and installed new 6x9 speakers concealed under the rear package tray. I do have a CD player installed currently but I cannot find the faceplate. I have a mint Buick radio player that I am including in the sale if you want to put it back in. The dash pad is in fantastic shape as well as the dash cluster. The carpet has faded slightly in a few areas and is not extremely dark black in those places (being very picky). The headliner is in great shape but is starting to show slight signs of wear. The air vents are not hooked up currently as I had not found excellent shape plastic tubing before I decided to sell. The fan turns on fine but it blows on your feet. The A/C does not work currently but I have not tried to charge it. All the A/C parts are there.

    Drive train / Suspension

I had the engine professionally rebuilt by a local Austin engine builder. It runs very strong and is a street performance build. The block was completely gone through and new bearings, gaskets, hydraulic lifters, freeze plugs, rod bolts and more. We used an HP Comp Cam 96-203-4 and installed an Edlebrock intake manifold, rebuilt and refinished Quadrajet, flamethrower coil, MSD Distributor Cap, electronic Distributor, fuel pump, battery, fan clutch, alternator, oil pump, Aluminum Radiator. TheTH350 transmission was checked over when pulled out and new seals were installed. I then had a full 2.5” exhaust system from Pypes installed with Dynomax mufflers and factory styled turn downs. The car sits on new 255/60R-15 Roadhugger Radial T/A (~500 miles on them) with 15X7 Ralley wheels. The suspension is tight and the power brakes work great.

Are those front door panels for a 1970? They don't look like 1970's to me.

They are the correct 70 door panels and are original to the car. In fact I found the original build sheet in mint condition taped to the inside of the drivers side door panel.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Yes, original door panels...some 70 GS cars had the base model interior and not the Custom "waffle" interior.

Should sell, good price....only tip I can offer....clean up the master and paint it or replace it with a new one...clear coat the new one so it does not rust...otherwise engine compartment looks great! You did nice work.:TU:

Absolutely beautiful. This is how Burgundy Mist should be photographed. Good luck with the sale, although I don't think you'll have too much trouble.:TU:

    Few questions

Is suspension original? Looks like the rear has some help.
    Front disc?
What year is the engine, drivetrain?
Front end(ball joints, bushings etc) original?
Does the A/C blow cold even though it's not vented properly?
    All guages work?

Most of the suspension was replaced by the previous owner before I got the car. Unfortunately I could not tell you what all was replaced as I haven't touched the suspension. It has power drums all around. I believe it was a 75 or 76 block, I will have to double check the engine build sheet. The A/C does not blow cold, however I haven't had it charged or messed with after it was pulled out when I had the motor swapped in. Everything is there but I do not know the working order. The tach and speedo work perfect, the fuel gauge reads off center to the right on full. I also have a set of under dash gauges to monitor water temp, oil pressure and amps that all work.
