I wonder if they'll explain the black carpet. And what color is 'Saturn White'?

You know they won't explain the carpet. Whomever buy this will probably not a clue either.

Saturn White is the polar opposite to Apollo Yellow.

Think a number or years ago the Stage 1 was for sale for under 30 k when Chamberlain was selling it I think in Hemmings. After , down the line some nut bought it and tried to get something like 1.5 million for it.

No, not true. His first auction in AZ it was bid to (I think) $130,000 "ish" and that bid was rejected as the car had a reserve. Later it sold at Mecum Indy in the $80,000 range with no reserve.

How much should the car be worth? IMHO much more than either of those two numbers.

Yea, the white carpet change was a big mistake IMO, I am always in the game if its under $65K, but I never hear about any documentation for that car, is there anything bullet-proof on it?

There is plenty of documentation on the car. It is the real deal one-off car. Only a couple of numbers away from mine in both VIN and body number. Guy's Reynolds Buick car is right in there too. I know my car will never leave my cold dead hands, especially at that number. I'm sure Guy feels the same.

These cars are MUCH more rare (and valuable) than any hemi ever made and all three will run circles around those cars too. How much did the last hemi cuda convertible bring? Add to that number for the true value of these.

the carpet must have been wasted. I'm sure the owner didn't replace it for the hell of it. while installing a black carpet obviously doesn't make it 100% correct, i do not think it will hurt the value of the car much if at all.

Unfortunately the real value of anything including these cars is what someone is willing to pay for them. Everyone thinks they should be in the upper class of all Classic Muscle, but history say different, and as far as the carpet, it makes a difference, a clear difference, same as changing color, or changing to a holly carb, its either right or its not. 100% right = 100% value, 90 % right demands 90% money, they are always exponential.
Additionally, I wonder where the white floor mats went?

Carpet was not waisted...it was dirty. Owning one of these cars demands that the owner take all precautions to protect it from not only improper storage or other damage, but to keep it clean to preserve it for future generations. Part of that may entail wearing slippers solely dedicated to the interior of the car. I use junk floor mats to keep my carpet fresh. I keep it in a heated, dehumidified air conditioned building in a CarCapsule. This is not a deal for the faint of heart or shallow of pocket.

Thanks Brad. I do feel the same way. And I agree, I was actually sadden when johns proto sold for so low of a number.
I often think about how my car is numbered so close to yours and the other proto. And all three being 10-10 cars. I can see yours and Johns old car being close, but the Reynolds car was ordered by Bill Trevor himself through Reynolds.
Don't understand where the connection would be? Maybe just a coincidence?

Btw. You may know or may not but I have a TON of original paperwork on the Reynolds car. So much so, would go so far as maybe one of the most documented paper wised muscle cars out there. Including the original "pink" slip title with Lennie Kennedy and wife's signature. About an inch thick of original paperwork both from Reynolds Buick and Denny Manner.
I didn't win the power ball but feel just as lucky!

No coincidence Guy, I am sure these were ordered about the same time by Bill and the Marketing department and they made them together in a batch. They were told, I'm sure, to order what they wanted and have the order in by a certain date. I'm sure there were perimeters (white car, although your's has the base black interior where John's and mine had white buckets. Lighter, I guess).

You had told me you had a ton of paperwork and I do keep up on these cars. I think you showed me some of the paperwork one year at BPG. Very neat car with tons of history.

Back then at BPG that was just a sliver of what I have now.
Don Reynolds found the original dealer folder of my car and dealer leger where my car was stocked and then sold to Lennie in '72. There's 25 to 30 papers. Weird stuff , two punch cards. The one that usually goes in the glove box and another but different one that was to be kept by the dealer or maybe GM. Among a lot of other papers that I would bet Dwayne has never seen.
Wherever the car was stocked in ald throughout the leger books (yes two different books) it was refered as either a "hot rod" or "race car".

Oh and Don "gave" this all to me. Had pics of some of it here but took it down as what someone recommended...

Has anyone ever inquired if perhaps the original white carpet was saved? Not out of the realm of possibility.
