Rich -according to a Pennsylvania Secretary of State's online document search the company owning the dealership is still active. Perhaps someone is still around that remembers the GSX.

I lived in Reading 1970 to 72. Know where the dealership is and have probably driven by it a 1000 times but never saw the car. 5th street is one of the main drags in town.

    BUICKRAT Got any treats?

Could be a good investment project if the drivetrain were original. I think that detracts alot of value as far as return goes, though. Too bad it got driven hard and put away wet one (or two) too many times.

Yup your right, I had forgotten that last night at 3 AM :eek2: :Brow:

When the AC was added it went to 3.42 gears, it was sticks without AC that got the 3.64's. :TU:

    Jim.

My GSX was ordered by the original dealer as a demonstrator as well, according to Wayne's decode.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a demonstrator?

  9. GStage1

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Demonstrator: For people to take test drives.

Don't know why it has to be labeled as a demo....maybe it got more options automatically????

Around here, the sales people usually got/get to drive the "demos" as personal cars. One of the job perks. So, yeah, I could see why some nice cars would have been ordered as "demos".

I better review my own paperwork again since the selling dealer's son drove our GSX for a year before they sold it. I talked to him myself. He said he drove it to vacation destinations back in 1970.

WOW, I thought that perk was dead a long time ago, I don't see many "dealership people" driving cars home any more.

That could be because of the Registry though, they cracked down on how you can use "Dealer" & "Repair" Plates in MASS.

Our neighbor (Pat) a few doors down owns Moran Chevrolet dealerships and he is always driving something new. John on the other side of the canal is sales manager of the Chrysler dealership and usually drives a different challenger every few months.
It used to be thought that they received extra care on the line and finish area when used as a demo.
