SOLD Reposting this since the price is considerably lower now. Price is $6000 Photos at the bottom This is a book, so be prepared. I wanted to answer all of the questions that I could up front and be as descriptive as possible. My '70 GS350 is still up for sale. It is not a numbers matching car but is definitely an original GS. Purchased first in California, then to Texas for most of its life, and finally to NY in 2005. Engine was rebuilt, new block but factory heads. Poston GS110 Cam, Poston headers, S-Divider Intake. Transmission was rebuilt with a mild shift-kit. Rear end is an 8.5" 10 bolt with 3.42 posi gears. None of the above is numbers matching except the heads on the engine. All of that work had been done before I got it. Since I got it I have.. 1. Replaced steering center link 2. Replaced Steering box 3. Replaced Master Cylinder and Booster 4. Put on a Jon Osborne built Q-Jet 5. Replaced Distributor cap and rotor and added adjustable vacuum advance (but actually don't use it), added Crane XR-i so no more points, new wires, colder spark plugs. 6. Various other odds and ends to drivability and other small problems the car had when I first got it. The car needs some body work as it was in a hail storm sometime in its life in Texas. Otherwise, it is quite solid. It is a vinyl top car and probably has some rust associated with the fact that the top is pretty shot. It also has some rust in the lower rear quarters. In my opinion, none of the rust is major, especially compared to most of the cars I see in the northeast. The major body work will be for the hail damage. The car has pretty new rear tires (less than 3000 miles on them). The front tires are still good but it also comes with new, taller front tires to match the rears. It also comes with: 1. Correct vinyl for the rear seat 2. Two 4bbl 350 Intakes 3. Some trim to replace dented trim, may need to be polished 4. Various wiring harnesses 5. Other odds and ends that Ive got for it, including the original radio and a 1" carb spacer that needs some adjustment to make it fit. Problems with the car besides body work: 1. If you hook up the vacuum advance it surges at part throttle and pings. This is because I did not add the limiter plate to the VA when I installed it and am running lighter springs. Simple 2cent fix that I just never got around to doing. 2. Needs new springs and shocks. I put new shocks in the back and it improved the ride but the springs are beyond gone. Because of that, it shimmies at highway speed. I am positive its because of some odd driveshaft angles from sitting as low as it possibly can (basically the coils are touching each other). 3. Front bumper is pushed in and rusted, back bumper could used to be rechromed. 4. Needs vinyl top. 5. Rear seat is wrong vinyl (correct vinyl comes with it) and small other nuisance problems like the heater/AC controls need to be replaced and there is wear and a small repaired tear in the seats and door panels. 6. AC does not work, but I do have all the parts. That's all I can think of right now - I am sure there are more little things but I drove this car daily for a few weeks at the summer -> fall transition and really had nothing but fun doing it. I contemplated hanging onto it and not selling it but we are in need of money (going back to school, repairs on the house, repair work to the daily drivers, etc) so its gotta go. Price is $6000 and I'm pretty firm, but don't be afraid to make an offer fairly close to that. Here are the photos. These photos are from 2006, but they haven't changed. Its tough to get updated photos since the car is packed in the garage but if needed I will do my best.
Is the car still available? If so,what's the best you can do? PM me and we'll see what we come up with. Thanks
If I had the extra cash,I'd buy this car. I know the #'s don't match but a fair priced fix as you drive G.S. it is. I'm just a little shy on cash right now. Whoever gets it will get a great car!
Thanks for the bump and the kind words. Buyer had to back out because of personal issues - car is back on the auction block... asking price is the same (I can't afford to go any lower, sorry!) Eric
Eric, It may help to post pictures of the interior, the engine compartment, inside the trunk, lower rear quarters, and lower front fenders. Gil
I added a few photos of the interior and trunk from 2006 - nothing has changed there. Its tough to get new photos of the car since its pretty packed in the garage (and the garage door is frozen shut, we do have some snow left...) but I can try. I have a couple of the lower parts of the quarters as well as inside some of the fenders and things available for me to email to people. I've posted a lot in the thread already. Thanks for the bumps as well everyone.
That means $4500 now??....Just kidding. I am working on the purchase of a another GS 350 from a board member. Good luck with the sale and if you decide to let it go soon in my price range, let me know....You are 800 miles closer.:3gears:
Eric,I will have to pass on this car. I will have too much in the car plus doing the work to make it feasible to me. I will have around $5000 in the other car when I get it here and the #'s match. If it doesn't work out,I'll let you know.Jim
Eric, the deal fell through on the other car. For some reason, the vin came back to a :blast: :blast: Skylark...Had all GS parts though and was clean just not my style. How did you make out on this car being sold? Jim
Eric, I passed this along to a buddy who is in the market. Trying to talk him out of getting a late 60's Cougar or early 70's Firebird with little success....this one might just do the talking for me. Nice GS, good price :TU: D.
Thanks Dana, I don't blame him on the Cougar - my mom had one in '70 (67 XR-7 4speed HiPo 289) and I've wanted one to duplicate it since I was a kid. That will have to wait though. Especially now that I'm pretty addicted to Buicks Thanks for passing it on - I've really got to sell it but just can't take less than what I've got it posted for.
