I'm cleaning up my drive shaft and found where the 3 paint stripes were for identification but what I don't know is what color they were, I feel obligated to put them back on since I know where they were and I'm there. Can anyone help me out?

In 25 years of membership in ROA I have never seen any correspondance or articles on driveshaft paint strips on any year Riv. In fact, I didn't know they existed until I came to this board and saw posts about the Skylark stripes. 99.9% of the Riv crowd apparently isn't anal enough in restoration to concern themselves on things like this or if they are, they haven't publicized it.

I found remnants of an orange stripe 1/2" wide about 11" back the tube on my 66 but no others. There may have been a witness line of one more but I just couldn't be sure. Had I not specifically been looking for the evidence of a stripe, I would have easily missed it and blasted it away.

If no one posts with the answer, you could paint them colors used on other shafts and no one would ever be able to dispute it but the main reason for painting them something is so you at least duplicate the location in the event the correct info becomes available in the future.

thanks Jason, I might just do the picking colors and painting them, funny part on the 69 is they are on the front shaft and will not be seen when it's installed, I just feel the need to do it since I'm there!
