The roof rail I'm replacing is one piece and includes the hard rubber section which seals the back window.
I purchased a metro seal replacement for the area. It only goes to where the hard part starts. When I removed the old w strip it was attached to this hard piece and seemed to be originally made as one. The back window piece is screwed not glued and the glued came apart at this point.
is there an aftermarket strip that is one piece front to back.
if not, how do I neatly connect the two? The front and back pieces on the old were made as one connected with a piece of cloth nylon??
On a dry test fit with the slot thoroughly cleaned the metro seal did not fit that great!

please help don't want it to look like a cheap rookie job
this connection will be difficult to glue together as it stands
and it's at a place where the water will be forced toward
    thanks Mike

If you have access to a '68 Fisher Body Manual Mike, there is some info on how the soft front roof rail strip is butted to the rear window piece.
There is no aftermarket 'one piece' roof rail molding. As I recall you remove the screw(s?) holding the rear window rubber to the roof rail at the front.
This will allow the rear piece to be lowered slightly so the butt joint to the soft front roof rail can be taped to seal it. :TU:

had the same issues and used the 3M trim adhesive and hid the seem under the metal window retainer. As far as I know no one makes that part.

I have a 69 manual I will start looking. If anyone runs across a video of how to do this, please let me know!
    Thanks

The '69 Fisher Body Manual will have the same info Mike - not the '69 Buick Shop Manual.
. . . appreciate the comment on the JEWAL ! :TU:

Got it! Now where do I come up with some "nylon patch material" to mate the two?
Doesn't look like I will be able to salvage what's on there now.
    Thanks again

I don't know if this is avaiable on the other side of the pond, but here in Poland we have isolation tape which is made out of kevlar and has water proof adhesive. I did roof rails on mine 66 and on another 66 of my customer. Joint looks like original just made of 2 strips not one. Manufacturer of this tape is Certoplast, i know this is OEM tape for VW and Citroen engine harnesses.

    Hope this help a bit.
    Peace, Kacper.

I used Metro weatherstrip for my door seal replacement.

    Door strip

DID NOT FIT WELL AT EITHER TOP AREA NEAR THE WINDOW. TOO THICK!1!!!!!
DOOR WAS ABOUT 5 INCHES FROM BEING ABLE TO CLOSE.
FINALLY TRIMED IT DOWN WITH A SCALPEL UNTIL IT WILL CLOSE.
ALMOST CUT THROUGH THE GASKET TO GET IT THIN EHOUGH.
    lOOKS PRETTY UNPROFESSIONAL UNLESS CLOSED.
    DONT USE METRO BRAND.

Roof rail doesn't fit WELL either

anybody know anything about Steele rubber (very high$) fit or what OPGI SELLS

    HELP! Help!
