1969 Lesabre Fuel filter question

Discussion in 'Small Block Tech' started by 1969LESABRE1969, Nov 6, 2007.

  1. I want to change my fuel filter but when I check online I am offered the paper cartridge only. I didnt remove the metal canister yet, but I don't see a place to open and change the filter. Am I missing something? Thanks

  2. Also does anyone know where to hook up the tach and dwell meter? It has 2 aligator clips and I lost the instructions!

The fuel filter is found in the front of the carb, where the fuel line is connected. It is inside the carb housing, and is spring loaded. I assume you have a Buick 350-4 in your 69 LeSabre?

Yes, remove the fuel line from the front of the carb. Then loosen the big nut (takes about a 15/16" or 1" wrench... it's in that neighborhood, I don't remember exactly.)

Tach - hook up red clip to coil neg.(-), and black to ground(like the A/C bracket.

  5. Perfect !! Once again my thanks.

Big fitting is 1", the smaller fitting is 5/8" Use a line wrench on the smaller fitting or you will round it off.
