And the comment about the 455's respected longevity and durability. I love these cars more than anyone, but the 455's are NOT known for longevity.
Pretty proud price tag for what you get.. or should I say don't get... Not a bad ride but nowhere near that ticket
Oooh..That interior... That is nice. Says its an "Upgrade" Mmm Hmmm... and at least straighten the Stage 1 on the air cleaner lid before you take the picture... now that's just lazy.. :0)
I kinda like the interior.:spank: And dont forget, you can flip open a GTO catalog and get a hood tach.:bla:
Maybe not when trying to make 800 plus hp (block won't take it) but otherwise alot of them will outlive us all! I've got 2 455s (70s) that have over 2,000 drag passes on them and one had 90,000 miles of street use before that. Both of them are still running and have all the bearings that Buick put in them in 1970.
My Stage 2 has 600+ passes making 675 hp with original crank and rods. How many Chevys are doing that? Zero Pontacs due to CAST rods.....well maybe if they have Super Duty rods.... My knuckles are hurting from knocking on wood.....
Someone forgot to tell a 72 Electra I used to own that. It had 120,000 on it when I bought it and 235,000 on it when I sold it. I changed the oil every 3,000 miles and new spark plugs, points. The only extra maintenance I ever did was a new timing chain because the factory one was cheapo nylon. It ran like a top when I sold it. Its when you get into the high HP applications that things get more dicey.
