1969 430 head potential...is there any?

    Hello all.

I am starting to research possibilities for the 430 in the Skylark. It came from a 1969 Riv and had been rebuilt (.060 over, new rings/bearings/springs/etc.) by, well, who knows. All I really know is that it received a mild Crane hydraulic cam and ran fine until I parked it (returned to college). The rest of the mods list consists of an Offy intake, adaptered Edel 750 (I know, tiny), Poston 1 7/8" headers and 2 1/2" exhaust with dumped Dynomax STs.

The TA heads look great, but if the '69 irons have potential then I'll spend the cash on a custom cam and some TA rockers.

The link for casting numbers popped up in one search so I will know more when I am more coherent (dead tired right now but wanted some input if anyone feels so inclined). I am thinking that 600HP at the flywheel on pump gas should not be out of the question with today's technology (cam/intake/exhaust selection), as there is no restriction concerning fuel economy. Heck, I only have power steering and may change that too, if I can get over losing the quick ratio...

Sorry for the novel, just throwing this out there before I hit the hay. Much thanks.

    Peace,

    K
