I am reattaching some of the body mounding’s on my 68 Skylark custom and have encountered a problem . My vehicle originally came with the rear wheel well “ skirts “. I did not like the look of the skirts and removed them. I acquired a set of the original wheel opening mouldings and after installing them , went on to install the moulding between the doors and the wheel openings. The issue is the moulding’s don't sit flush to the wheel moulding . They are approx 3/8” too long . Did the non skirted cars get different mouldings ? Anyone who lost skirts encounter this glitch ?

Here is my '68 Skylark. (Canadian car, if that matters with the trim)

I think the "skirted" cars did not have moulding for the rear wheel opening but had moulding the "carried through" the skirt so the lower sweep speer was straight from behind the door in front of the wheel well opening to the bumper.
