Looking for 1968 GS400 in great condition. Prefer 4-speed car. Money in hand for right car.....Someone has to have one. I would be interested in a 69 also.
Chris, If your not aware there is a 68 400 4 speed on e-bay. It might not be the condition you are looking for. It appears to be a 3/5. Here is a link. Patrick http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&item=4543582668&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT

'68 Gs400 Chris - Check the pic in my avatar. I've been thinking about selling. This is a auto/bench seat car. I've had it torn apart and down to bare metal. It's finished except that the a/c is apart. Shocks, brakes, rubber etc. all gone through in the last five years. I'm the third owner. Just over 100 k miles. It's won a couple trophies in local shows. Color is code N maroon with a white painted top, black interior. It also has white sport stripes low on the rockers. Car is stock appearing but has: .030 over 455, Diehle 800 cfm Qjet, forged pistons, ARP rod bolts, Popular Mechanics cam, Rollmaster timing set, ported big valve heads, ported exhaust manifolds, 2-1/2" exhaust, TCI TH400, 11" converter, 3.08 posi, air bags, three year old paint, bumpers rechromed, new headliner, carpet, and seat upholstery, am/fm/cassette, antenna in the windshield, underside is POR 15 coated. Original 400 motor, trans, 2.93 open rear, am radio are available. Car has gone 13.22 at 105 on Firestone Firehawk radials. It would go high twelves with some stickies. With gears and some tuning it could be a middle of the pack FAST car. 13 MPG highway. Are you Jim's son? If so, he may remember the car from Norwalk last year. I was around when Norm Diehle was working on his carb. I'd hate to sell it, but I have a new project starting up. Let me know if you want to talk more. jreberly@charter.net 616 842 2860
John's car is damn nice!!! Chris, John's car is really nice, straight, and the Burgandy Mist/White color combo is really striking :TU: It's a very clean, sharp car :3gears:
I don't know from what you said what your budget is. We could talk too if you want to. Mine is 17K original miles GS400 4spd bench seat. Red/blk interior. No AC, peg leg, dog dish caps. All original as far as I know except for a respray in the original color. It would be #1 if not for the dealer undercoating which my appraisor took points off for. Probably one of the lowest miles 68GS400 4spds if not the one. The usual story. Husband bought it and died soon after. Wife kept it in the garage for years and years and didn't drive a stick shift, but didn't want to lose her husband's memory.
White letter tires on dog dish caps looked odd, so now they're flipped around to the black wall side. It's got a "sleeper" look to it now, althought the red color betrays that to some extent. I put this car into one Buick show in the Chicago area and it got 2nd place in the GS class behind a GSX. Let me know if you're interested.
The car doesn't appear to be in China, Mike can clarify I'm sure. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not, but I know it would for me...
The car is in Palatine Illinois, about 35 miles NW of Cbicago. I live in China but all the cars except the Regal are in USA.
Chris knows where all the Buick's in America are located. If there is such a thing as the Albert Einstein of GS where abouts, I'd vote for Chris to be that guy.
There are a number of us on here who know where a lot of them are, like Jim L., Marco, etc. I generally try to keep track of onlythe ones I want to buy or have considered buying, or posted for sale, or inquired about when for sale. Oh heck, I guess that is most all of them!
'69 GS400 4 Speed Convertible Chris - I'm negotiating with a local guy who has a '69 GS400 4 speed convertible that he bought new. It's an all original, rust-free Florida car. It will be in the neighborhood of $15k, maybe a little less. Let me know if you're interested. Donny
Not sure which Chris you meant, but I would be if it is nice. Is it gold or green colored? I vaguely remember one being for sale on ebay a couple of times last year from Florida, I could probably find it if I had too somewhere on this board, if you say it is the same color.
It's a brown metallic or burnished saddle, bench seat 4 speed. This car has never been for sale before, and really isn't now. I know the owner and he subtley intamated that he may need to part with it. I'm working on convincing him to sell it to me since I already have a '68 GS400 Convertible. He told me that he felt it was worth $15k, but there may be some room on that number. I don't think he realizes that it's one of only 213.
