I am selling 68 GS 400 4spd. for a friend. It has only 47,000 original miles. The car is beautiful it has original paint that being said it does have some imperfections after all it is 44 years old. The interior is perfect other than the old school guages and 8 Track tape deck that were in the car when my friend bought it. The car was purchased from the original owner it has been garaged since new. I will do my best to answer any questions about it. It is missing some OE things: The air cleaner, carb, fuel pump, fuel line, grill emblem, sway bar, and the wheels. The car has the original exhaust front to back, also it was ordered with a 390 posi. It runs great and the trans is quiet and shifts smoothly. I has some type of electronic ignition system, all the hoses are original as well. It needs under hood detail work. The car also was ordered with the cowl type ram air the only thing left is the ram air hose that is really cool. When my friend bought the car it had a 1000 CFM Thermo Quad, I installed a 750 Holley. I also put 15" Road Wheels on it. The asking price is 25,000 20,000 Firm.
Cool ram air set up! About 15 years ago a friend of mine found one of those 68 ram air kits NOS in the box. I never knew they existed until then. Does anyone know if they were a factory option or only a dealer installed deal? This looks like a really neat '68. Does the owner have any original paperwork? I'd be interested in seeing documentation on the performance axle and the other options the car came with.
I know that there is no paper for this car I guy my friend got it from was a strange one, just had the owners manual. We had asled him for it but he never called. He looked like a hoarder he had a Judge that he bought new in 70 and I asked about it and he yelled at me not to ask about the car.
.........missing a lot of what? A couple pieces of paper?o No: I have not seen the car myself but a few of my friends went to look at it and said it is phenomenal. The car still has the original exhaust, original brakes, original wheel cylinders, original clutch, and thats just a few things I can remember off the top of my head. This is not a restored car, but a survivor. How long has it been since anyone found another car like this? Duane PS. Frank reproduces the entire 68 ram air set-up, so you could re-install that on the car.
As to the cold air intake system, I have both an NOS and the Frank version, and in all honesty, Franks is a better piece. Much easier to work with and very well made
That car does not need much IMHO. All the stuff to put back to OE is easy enough to do. Then just clean and detail the engine and the rest of the car and your are done. Not to far away....
Don he was that I remember Mark saying the same thing he just wanted to get the car and go I will tell you the Judge was just like the GS low miles and original. I talked to Sara today she thinks that Mark saved the mans name I will know tomorrow. I am kind of excited about that because I want to try to contact him again.
That is a VERY nice car inside and out. I think the wheels make it pop. Could you tell me where you got the wheels? Thanks, Dave
