o No: Does anyone know if a model of the 68-69 Skylark was ever produced? I don't care if it is diecast, plastic, Matchbox, Hot Wheels or anything esle...
There's a guy that sells 1:25 resin model bodies on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2585&item=5929857247&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
'68 Buick model There is a resin kit of the '68 GS400. List price is about $60. Mike Trom on this board was trying to set up a group buy for us this summer. The guy who makes these kits is pretty casual about it. He was looking for a new chrome plater and didn't follow through as far as I know. Here's the thread. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=39172&highlight=68+resin
Resin Kit I think you get body, interior, and chrome parts (grille bumpers and wheels). You still need a donor kit to come up with chassis, axles, radiator, etc. I would probably use one of the 70 GSX kits for the big block motor and a '68 Chevelle for the chassis and glass.
I am still working on the group purchase and the word "casual" is a very good way to explain the vendors reaction. The last time I received an e-mail from the vendor (a month ago) they were sending parts to a new plastic chrome plater to judge quality. No word from them since.. o No: I will keep trying.... I really want one of these kits...
I did the Buy It Now for one of these 2 1/2 weeks ago, paid on Dec.20, and haven't received it yet. Not worried at this point, the guy has perfect feedback. However, he's made no attempt to contact me, nor replied yet to my inquiry yesterday about shipment status.
I have been trying to get in touch with "Perry's" to find out if they have resolved the problem with their plastic chrome plater (they lost the one they had and were looking for another). No reply from Perrys :spank: I have been trying to set up a group purchase with them for over a year and they did give me a price (about $10 off each kit) but since they lost their chrome vendor my e-mails to them have been unanswered o No: At this point I am afraid to set up any type of high dollar order (group purchase) with them. This really stinks because I really wanted to get a couple of kits and try my hand at making a convertible... :TU: I will post any info that that (if) they send me. :beer
The resin model making business is very labor intensive, so it might be that Perry isn't keen on the idea of spending the time it would take to put together a batch of 10-20 kits. Another reason could be that he is doing a lot of the toy car shows right now. I'm sure he sells a bunch of them at the shows. I did see an avocado green completed kit and it looked very nice. I just wasn't sure it was $60 nice. I f enough people write to Revell or Ertl and request a certain kit, they will add it to their line. The price and quality will be better than resin too.
