As I am fooling with my tail lights, I see that the inside of the metal backing, where the bulb fits in, is painted white to reflect light back out the lens.

Why isn't it painted silver? I would think a shiny silver would reflect better and give more light out the lens.

Does the white even it out or something?

I blasted my housings to get rid of the rust and have now painted them, but wonder if I should go white or silver inside?

    Opinions?

I recently restored mine as well, the inside was a flat white finish.. I guess heat was not a factor and white was simple a cheep way to do it.. I painted the out side with Rustolem stainless steel paint and on the inside was flat white Rustolem.. Lots of masking and many days for paint to dry hard but it came out excellent..
