Hey guys my name is Marcus Edell I used to own Hot Rod Vintage Parts.com I sold alot of Speed equipment for Nailheads etc.Anyways I picked up a 1967 Le Sabre Custom Convertible from a guy for $1400 running new top,got home and found out its got the I guess what they call the 400 option.I know the engine is a big block but what I dont know is the CID..I'm guessing its a 400.I just got off the phone with my brother to read the casting number on the back and he came up with 1381621M but that can't be right all the numbers i looked up dont have letters at the end. I also found out they only made like 4,600 67 Le Sabre convertibles but I cant find how many were 400 option cars.I'm guessing this car to be a rare one,Anyone know anything that can help me out I'm getting really confused here. Thanks:Dou:

I don't know about the numbers, but mine has a 340 cid v8 in it.
Only difference is mine is a hard top.

In 1969 the 400 option denoted a four barrel on the small block and a TH400 trans. Possibly it meant this in 1967 as well?

Well it is a big block the distributor is in front...the closest casting number that matches the one my bro read, and he might have miss read it is a 1381624 which would be correct for a 1967 400 CID engine..

If the valve covers have 5 bolts holding them down, it's a big block. 6 bolts for a small block.

Uh 340. Thats the small block for 67.

  10. That is a 340 engine..notice how the exhaust ports are evenly spaced..in 67 the 400 meant that it came with a switch pitch TH400 tranny ..not sure about the 4 barrell. that 340 is a very peppy little engine .Bob

Again? LOL ...thats ok.... I can take off the zilla part if you want too. I had the animated blower one over on Buickland that you were using too........ two great minds think alike I guess. :)
I have been waiting to see what kind of results you get with your motor...... I am very interested in seeing what the resluts are.

I'll have to go through the photo editor and remove the bottom name, I didn't even think about it when I replaced my older avitar. The good news is that my engine will be on the dyno next week and I can't wait to get the results back. I had Jim o-ring the block as I'm thinking of putting on an ATI procharger. With the compression the engine has I know I'll need an intercooler with alky injection, but with a 4-speed it'll only get more fun :D Jim Burek will also be doing a comparison with the two intakes. He installed a GS111 cam from Postons and will probably use a 850cfm Demon carb on it. He might also try a 1000cfm knowing the engine will be able to handle it, but the $300-$400 price difference might not be justifiable. I just ordered new springs for the car, so it'll lower it by 1 1/2" all around and I'm finishing up on the fuel system so it'll be ready when the engine comes.
