I'm looking for solid info if the 67 GS 400 scoops were painted black inside. I recently bought a sapphire blue 67 GS, it's the original color, but it's been repainted. When you look inside the scoops, the block off plates that are part of the scoops are painted blue. The short section from the block off plates forward is blue. It looks like the scoops were painted off the car, they flipped them over and painted them blue. It seems like if at least the block off plates were black, the scoops would look better from the front. I've looked at many pics, but I can't tell if they are painted or just because it's like a hole they look black. Does anybody know for certain how they were painted inside? Was the block off plate body color or black? Were they totally black inside from that plate forward, or just the plate? If someone has a totally original car and knows, that would be great! I'm going to my first Nats this year and want to get it right. I'm a newbie to Buick, but have a senior preservation 1969 442 I restored. Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for that info! I'll have to take them off and spray them in the Spring. Hope to see you at the Nats.......Frank

The chrome flat part in front of the block off area should have a flat striped decal on it.

Right my description is a bit confusing. No pics, the car is parked 100 miles away for the winter. I have some repro inserts for the chrome part. I've seen many GTO's 65-69 where they were repainted and the scoop inserts were painted the same color as the car. It looks dumb. That's why I thought these should be black inside. When you look into a scoop, functioning or not, it should look like it can really scoop air!

What about that short section of hood in front of the block off plate of the scoop? Is that small section of hood black, too? Is there black paint on the hood itself? Thanks for your help!!!!!!!

That's exactly what I was gonna ask. Pretty sure that part is the same as the rest of the hood from the factory but would probably look better if it was black too.
