I need to replace the fuel pump on my '66 Wildcat. The car has A/C and it appears that it takes a one year only fuel pump. Can anyone tell me what makes this pump special? Is it just the extra surge chamber on the bottom or is there a mechanical difference? Is it possible to use the more common pump from '65? Thanks in advance for the help.
According to my interchange book, you're right. 1966 was it's own year. I'm not sure why though; - the part number is completely different for 1964-65. It could be the eccentric off the cam was different, I have no idea. I'm looking at a non-A/C pump that I bought brand-new here on my desk, and I can't see why there would be any difference; - it looks physically the same as an older pump I have here. o No:
Early pumps have a bolt together body. Replacements are usually press together/crimped body's. Most diff. are which way the inlets & outlets are. ANYTHING can be made to work. Most ALL bolt in. Tom T.
