Do they make replacements for the light bulb socket for the rear tail lights. Been looking and haven't found anything yet. Bought some from doorman they don't fit for chit.

    Thanks,

Try OPG, I saw them in their catalog last night, they even have an entire tail harness as well. Hope this helps.

I went through this a bunch of years ago and I could not find one. I wound up cleaning the metal part of the socket where the bulb inserts with sandpaper and it worked fine. If yours is totally bad maybe someone on here has a used one. I will look to see if I have an extra one but I don't think I have any.

You know how you stick them in and give a twist to lock them in. None of them will turn to lock. I no longer have the original sockets. I had a bulb burn out and when I went to replace it I found the sockets were siliconed into place. Really would like to fix it correctly.

It's the little things like this that make me so mad I want to just sell my junk and buy a Chevy, Ford or Mopar product. Bet those guys can find tail light socket that fit.........Arrrrrggggggg!

    Alright I feel better now.

I endrd up cutting off my original sockets and bought Dorman sockets for early 70s big cars since they have the ground wire. I dremeled my pot metal housing so the socket would go in, and drilled a hole in trunk floor for the grround wire that I added a ring terminal to. Sanded to bare metal for the ground. Now my lights work great.

Even if you have brand new correct sockets it's only as good as the ground thru that old pot metal housing, I'd convert to the separate ground wire socket.

Kevin I will keep that in mind. Was hoping I wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel to have brake lights.

    Alan,
You know Bruno, don't you? PM him. He has a whole garage full of GS parts. He may have them. I can PM you his phone number if you prefer.

My buddy is a mechanic and he went through every picture of a light socket AdvanceAuto sells and we ordered up several and finally found something we could make work. It's a BWD part# PT72. Had to trim it a little but it fits nice and secure.

Thanks for all the feedback and ideas.

I did this as well. The originals were swaged to the housing and had to be ground out. It has been long enough that I don't recall what I did with the ground wires, if that is how the sockets came. I wasn't as concerned with my Buick's purity in those days as I am now.
