Yep would like a stick. Black interior preferably, color does not matter. No or minimal rust. Also whats a fair price on such an item, if anyone can give me an honest estimate I would be grateful. Cheers.:TU: Fenno.

Pricing these is kind of a crap shoot. I got my post car for 5500, and couldn't believe it. A nice restored hardtop will probably set you back around 15K. A nice driver with no issues will probably command 7-9K. The problem is that so few of them show up for sale, it's hard to set prices. Dan

I remember that well!....you asked for an 'intervention' after you bid on it. In the last few seconds of that auction, I had my finger over the 'enter bid' just in case someone outbid you! Glad you got it....how's she doing?
Other than Dan, Jimmy, and I, there aren't many '66 4-speed owners out there.

Oh Dan, there's a 66 GS shifter on eBay if you need one:

I have a 1966 GS 4-speed I have had it 3 years it was a cal black plate car last licensed 1982. after a complete tuneup new brakes wheel cylinders all around master cylinder took to local drag strip did 95 at 15.4. It was a never altered car only parts missing between seats console and the flat plate around the floor shift. Is it true only three people on this forum has one are they that rare?

Would be nice to see some pics of it!
Is the 'flat plate around shifter' the boot retaining ring? Those are repo'd for 66-67 Chevelle. same part.

    A couple more 66 4 speed owners:
66gsvert in St Louis has a 4 speed vert.
66kooch in central Pa has a mint red 4 spd.
Chasanderson in Mi, blue mist 4 spd
That makes 7 board members with 4 speed 66 GS's....So Jimmy still has more than the rest of us combined!:bglasses:

Apparently you just need your own warehouse of '66 cars and a dedicated Youtube site :Brow:

Sorry....My hardtop is blue/blue, but according to the seller it came out of Ohio. I had 2 guys descend on it at the '85 Nats and tell me that they were sure it was an "Interceptor Special." I had no idea what they were talking about, so they told me to talk to Jim Bell. He told me that all but one were automaticds. Reynolds Buick got two of them:eek:ne white that they wrecked, and a second yellow one, that they repainted white. He said there was one guy who got one out of the ten, in Ohio, who refused to take anything but a 4-speed, but he didn't know any more about the car. He thought mine might be it, but couldn't prove it. I'll say this: when I bought it, the seller got the front wheels off the ground with three of us un the car. It only lost two street races, to a nitroused Challenger, and to a 455 HO 70 GTO. It beat everything else, including a 427 67 Fairlane and a 70 440 GTX. I'll never know if it was one of the Interceptor Specials (the 66 version of the 67 Woodward Avenue Specials), but it makes for a great story. It's being restored in Mansfield TX, and I can't wait to drive it again! Dan

I'm glad you didn't intervene. Next time I see you Walt, I'l buy you a steak dinner....It's a completely original car, and only needs a repaint. I finished the interior with Legendary goodies and it still had its shifter boot(needing some cement)The engine, trans and front end had already been rebuilt. Ebay still has some sweet deals.
