"1966 Riviera" Can someone please tell me what engine came w/66' Riv's? I had a 66' riv and it had a 465 Wildcat engine on it so it says on the air filter cover on it and I'm pretty sure it was original, but I could be wrong. Did the 1966 Rivs come in other engine size? How about the 66 Riv GS's did they come in 430's or 425's? sorry for all the newbie questions but just eager to learn..Thanks in Advance...

It was a 425 cubic inch Nailhead with 465 ft/lb's of torque which is where the 465 designation came from. Buick labeled their engines by their torque rating back in those (fine) days.

I thought they also came with 430 motors?

    Nope.
'66 was the last year for the Nailhead.
The 430 filled the engine bay in '67.

I would add that there were about 179 factory dual quad set ups on the 66's. My 66GS Riv is one of the few documented ones.:beer

All Rivis came with wildcat motors while they still made wildcats, I think.:bglasses:
