anyone know or want to guess how many 1966 skylark gs 4-speed convertibles are left. they made 431 of them.
Do you mean other than the one in my garage? Jim, it's Cream but planning on a color change, probably Midnight Blue. I'd guess there may be 10-15% left, so 40-60 at best. Most 66's had a decent amount of use and miles on them when the gas crunch hit in the late 70's. They were just old cars and many got junked. Unlike for example a 70 GS which was only a few years old and more likely to be saved. Add the fact that convertibles don't hold up well with outdoor storage, making them less likely to have survived.
I am doing a restoration on a 66 GS convertible. It was originally a 3 spd manual on the floor, but we are putting in a date correct T-10. I bought the car back in 1989, kept it for a few decades, sold it to a customer and now doing the ground up resto. P.S. Looked at that red 66 at Barrett a couple years ago and was not impressed. quite a bit wrong with the car, but if memory serves sold for good money.
