Hello folks, I have a 1966 Buick Skylark 4Dr. Hdtp. with 350 on the air cleaner. I thought the 1966 had a 340. I need to replace intake manifold with a 4bbl, and need to replace timing chain. Would the 340 and 350 have the same parts? Distributor is in the back near the firewall. I am also looking for an intake manifold. Should I go with stock or something like an Eldebrock? What type of carb should I consider? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Carman
If the dist is in the back, it's not a Buick 350 motor. More than likely a chevy or an Olds. If there is an oil fill tube on the front passenger side of the motor, it will be an Olds. A Pic will solve this.
Yep, but never seen a Wildcat 350 before. The wildcat 355 was a 300-4 wasn't it? Not sure what the 300-2 was called. My 340-4 is a Wildcat 375, but I have also seen Wildcat 365 for the same engine. We need pics! Brian
This may help you to find out what you got. When Buick converted from the 340 to the 350 valve order also changed. The 350 valve order is I,E,I,E,E,I,E,I Center runners on the exhaust manifold are siamesed The 340 valve order is E,I,E,I,I,E,I,E Center runners on the intake manifold are siamesed
don't over complicate when giving descriptions. 350 - the center exh runners are siamesed 340 / 300 / 215 - the center int runners are siamesed. if it doesn't have a front mounted distributor tilted towards the drivers side it might be a Nailhead but it's not from the Buick Small or Big Block families. valve cover bolts are also a dead giveaway: http://www.teambuick.com/reference/ident_eng_visual.php Air cleaner says Wildcat 350. Any other thoughts? either the air cleaner or the complete engine assembly could have been swapped in almost effortlessly. get us the engine code stamping. this will tell you the year and trim level of the motor assembly. http://www.teambuick.com/forums/view.php?pg=indent_engine_where
