    Hi,
I have a '66 Electra 225 rag top. I need a wheel for a spare. I currently have P235/75R15 tires on the four existing wheels. I called the local j yard and they said "We don't have any cars that old in our yard".

My Question: How can I find out what other cars have the same wheels as does my Electra? There must be a wheel matching list out there somewhere. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Im proud to see another owner of one of those giant bathtubs. you have a 5x5 bolt pattern for that car. those wheels are harder to find then the ones on the smaller card which is 5x4.75 bolt pattern. the elecrta and the riv have the same patten. my best suggestion to you is go to your local tire store and just buy a cheap steel wheel from them. i knoe i got some american racing steelies for like $45 bucks.

    Hi "Brother" Dan,
Hey us '66 Electra guys gotta stick together, because there ain't many of us out there! Thanks for the input on the wheels. One guy I happened to bump into said he had an aluminum chevy wheel that he thought would fit. Maybe I'll give him a call, put on my captain's hat, and drive my boat over to his place and see if it will work.
I don't have internet access at home (I'm doing this at work...don't tell anyone!!) otherwise I'd post some photos. I purchased the 225 up in Morristown NJ on June 11 this year, and had it transported to Maryland a week or so later. It is by no means a show car, but the body rust is minimal, the frame has some issues right where it bends at the trunk (on both sides), the 401 has been professionally rebuilt and runs fine, the tranny seems to be fine too. The rag top is black and has a few small holes in it, but the hydraulics work beautifully. I'm amazed at how easily the top drops back into place and is so easily locked. The body is astro blue metallic. The interior is a medium blue, and except for a few tears at the seams on the driver's back and some small cracks on the driver's seat, it is in very good condition. I love the beast and am so happy I got it. I drive it down to the Marley Station Mall car show in Glen Burnie, MD most Saturday nights. Most folks pass it on by, but I have drawn a few that really like it. The previous owner wanted $2500, I offered $2000, and we split the difference.....$2250. I realized later that Electra 225 x 10 = $2250, so I took the price as a good omen.
Rumor has it that there is a '66 red ragtop that was spotted at one of the Friday night shows, but it's like Bigfoot...I've heard about it but have never seen it. Actually I ALMOST purchased a red one out in Portland but decided not to buy a car that I hadn't seen with my own eyes.
BTW, you live in old car Heaven (Cali). I'm jealous. Of course, we haver bigger junk yards out East!!
Please tell me about your car...colors, mileage, where/when did you get it, engine size, how many women that have wanted to date you since you got it (so far zero for me).

P.S. Do you have any photos of the bathtub?

Bill sounds like a really nice car. i know that there is atleast one other member on the board with a 66 his is red with a cream top. Af as my car i didnt pay anything for mine it was passed down to me by my dad when he died. My grandfather got the car in 68 as he was a mechanic at the buick dealership it was towed into with a broken piston. they got it for $900 bucks and my grndfather fixed it my grandmother drove it til the early eighties and then my dad got it in highschool. by then it was pretty rust so he did a frame off resto in the mid eighites. it has a 401 bored 20 over so its actually a 411. white with a cream interior. it had a black top but there is no top on it currrently. all that is left is to redo the interior and put a top on it. i do have alot of extra parts especially in the trim area if you need some. i havent picked up any women all i seem to attract with the car is older men. hahaha.

Would that be me you're referring to with the red 66 with a cream top? If so, as of 3 weeks ago the top is now white. Finally had a new one installed and it made a world of difference. I'm still looking for some bits and pieces for mine; -in particular a full cruise control set-up (with dash) and a better black steering wheel. Can't seem to find one; - I would have thought there would be lots "out there"...

Buick wheels were generally all the same bolt pattern from about 1964 up until the full-size barges were discontinued in 1976. However I'm told that the later steel "mags" up to 1984-5 will still fit. So you shouldn't have any trouble finding a wheel for a spare.

Any other questions you have just ask; this is a great board with lots of knowledgeable people on it. Enjoy your Electra; I use mine every chance I get because there's nothing like driving a big old soft-top around. The only down side is like was stated before, - it's not quite a "chick magnet", and seems to attract more older guys with bizarre stories about a "friend of a cousin who used to have one just like this with a hopped up 440 in it"...
