I recently aquired a nice condition convertable buick. I started playing with the vinyl top this last weekend and I cannot get the top back up. I can get it most of the way up but the last few inches I cannot get it to move. I try to use the switch but All I here is a faint hiss, similar to that of a vacume leak or other leaky hose. I know absolutly nothing about buicks in general, I'm mostly a mopar person and this is my only buick. I couldn't pass up this nice convertable.

Where is the equipment/knowhow to repair/replace the system that controls the top? And once I get this problem sorted out I would also like to know a good place I can get the vinyl top replaced because mine is full of holes. Is it possible to save money and do it myself?

    Thank you in advance.

You may have to pull it down by hand the last couple of inches. There may be air in the system (look at the clear nylon hoses and see if there are bubbles). If so, do a search on here; there have been numerous threads on bleeding the top system.
It is possible to replace the top yourself, takes patience and determination but is entirely doable by the home mechanic.
