Did the big Buicks in 1966, like LeSabre, use a rear quarter emblem with the number "400" when the engine was a 401? Was the 340 w/4 barrel (Wildcat 375) available in 1966 in the LeSabre?

    Thanks!

I have a 1966 dealer price list here in front of me.....
There was a A-9 performance option for the 1966 LeSabre....It included a 340 4bbl engine with ST400 Transmission, single exhaust, and had '400' emblems on the rear quarters. Cost was $250 list.

It doesn't look like the 401 was available in the LeSabre....

The LeSabre 400 had the 400 emblems on them but they were in reference to the 400 trans. :Smarty:

Thanks, Robert. I am assuming the super turbine 400 was available with the Wildcat 375 engine (340)?

Thanks, Walt. Do you know, was there a version of the 340 with aluminum heads, or were AL heads only on the cast iron 300?

The 340 was 1966-67 only...Aluminum heads were only used on the 300 upto 1964...

Yes, that is basically what the LeSabre 400 option was. :TU:

OK, one more dumb question, and I'm sure it has been raised here before: IF the 300 heads would fit on the 340 block, is there any benefit?
