    hello
    I have a 1965 Buick Wildcat Custom.
The speedometer in the center console is defective. someone forcibly opened it. I'm looking for a circuit diagram to fix it.

    regards Klaus

maybe it didn't work and that's why it was open.

    You have a tachometer.
    They had two wires.
Blue to the negative side of coil (via the chassis wiring that used a brown wire in the harness)\
And the white wire is for the light.
The tach was grounded by the tachometer housing to the chassis when bolted in place.
You can use a wire from the housing to any ground point.

Hope they did not break any of the small copper wiring to the drive windings, but even that can be fixed if it is only a break and the windings is in good order.

There are places that can repair these if it is more than you want/can tackle.

It looks like the broken off uninsulated lead closest to that nut might be ground.

If you get a 9 volt battery with a prewired clip on cap you can apply power to the wires and maybe see which way the indicator needle moves.
If the coil still works the needle will peg itself to one side or the other depending on how you hook up the battery.

    regards Klaus
