OK V-8 Buick People: This IS a nice 65 Riv. It's at the top of the market though and at 22 big ones it's in competition with many similar cars. The interior is a point of contention as is the color, a personal choice though. Gotta see it, drive it and put up in the air. I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't like people spamming their stuff as it usually is NOT a better way to sell, I think it's ominous. Mitch

Has it got crushed velvet seats? If so, that's a no-no, and that's going to cross a lot of value off his price.

Upholstery isn't too bad, and this is opgi. A guy could most certainly find the same stuff or better for less. I wouldn't let $560 in seat upholstery dissuade me from a car.....EDIT: anybody else notice how the sale price for rear seat upholstery is higher than the regular price? OPGI economics........

True, it's not that much to set it back to what it was supposed to be, or something close. The point is he's representing the car as high end, and he's advertised it at a very high price point, if the seats are not right, how much else is? And that becomes a negotiating point for a prospective buyer. Not saying this car is a bad car, but the devil is in the details, and rather than just accepting that the car is "restored" (correctly, no doubt, who'd ever say it was "incorrectly restored?") this allows a prospective buyer to go in without the rose coloured glasses on.

OK Lucas: OPGI has a HORRIBLE reputation for Riviera stuff. I know from personal experience and guys who have constantly complained about them on the ROA forum. BTW, Clark's
Corvair Parts has THE catalog for First Gen Riviera upholstery. I have spent over three grand with them and NEVER a problem with anything. Mitch

I know this Mitch. I used to be one of the OPGI bashers over there (look up in the pics of your riv post and you'll see plenty of my car) before I couldn't take the all original/no modification nitpicking on that site, and have never had a good experience with OPGI, period. I know about Clark's, too :). But that's the only catalog I had at home to post how much an interior kit is, and also why I said you could find better for less........

Now, to me Marc, I look at an old school, out dated custom seat job like that and think: "The previous owner really loved that car. He actually spent the money to get his seats custom done instead of letting them rot away when reproduction stuff wasn't made. Also, the fact that those seats were done in the 70s or 80s and are still hanging on and looking well from the pics means it has been taken care of since at least that time." The upholstery isn't "wrong", it's just what they did back then. That's my thought process.

OK Lucas: Yes, when someone's intentions were good they need not be bashed for that. Also, when the price goes up, the more picky a prospect gets. Now, in actuality, the original blue vinyl on the 65 standard interior was actually very thin and the replacement from Clarks is much thicker. I have 6 65 Rivs, 3 custom, 3 standard. These seats? There was a very similar set in blue fabric on Sacramento Craigs list about a month or so ago for pretty reasonable. I thought of making a play for them as I have the identical twin 65 Riv (white, blue standard interior, crank windows and a/c) as the one being talked about. I didn't because I have to choose my battles carefully as far as spending dough.

I recently had my upholstery guy do a minor repair for me and I asked what it costs to re-upholster a bucket seat. He said $550 per seat. Everything is really expensive today and even on a cherry piece that laundry list can really explode. I have a burgundy 64 Riviera, my first build, and I call it "The Roller Coaster 64 Riv". Like a roller coaster....every time the punch list gets almost to the bottom I turn around and there it is again at the top. Mitch
