Hi. I`ve wondered for years what these codes on the firewall tag mean. W-2LFP-3H-4FS-5KW I would really appreciate someone who knows to take the time to decode these. Thanks very much, John
John, some of this info has been posted before. Try searching back for the past year or so. You should be able to find something... I do have some info that I've collected from past posts: '2LPF' means 'Group 2 options'.... L- is it a 4 speed? P- back-up lights '3H' is 'Group 3' options... '4FS' is 'Group 4' options... F- exterior remote mirror '5KW' is 'Group 5' options... K - Door edge guards W - Seat belts with retractors That's all I have....can you confirm these?
codes I think 3H is the vinyl top molding that wraps around the rear pillars. I would really like to know what 4S is myself. Someone has posted a sales sheet before but it would be nice to have all the info in one place.
Buick Codes. Thanks Guys. The fact that it lists a 4 speed trans pleases me. It has a 4 speed which appears correct however someone in the past has installed a Hurst shifter and hacked a large hole to accomodate it. This always had me wondering if it was originally an automatic but now I am convinced it is an original 4 speed. Thanks again, John
buick codes Hi Walt. I have the options for the codes you listed except the door edge guards which could have been removed years ago. Thanks, John
Buick Codes I think the following is correct. Feel free to let me know otherwise. The first W is for a tinted windshield and the 3H is for reveal moldings - the ones below the door windows and on the wheel well openings. Does the car have a tilt steering column ? That's my guess for the 4S. I would like to know since my '65 has a 4S code too.
Buick codes Hello Dan. I got the car in 99 and it needed restoring. The windshield I believe was not tinted and was cracked so I replaced it with an upper shaded one which was the only new type availabe here in Canada. It may have also been replaced before. Very difficult to find out what it originally came with. The car does have reveal vinyl roof moldings as well as wheel opening moldings and also about 1 inch wide moldings at the base of the windows. The paint code is CC. Does this mean it was white with a white vinyl roof? The car was white with no vinyl top when I got it. It is now red with black vinyl. The car does NOT have tilt. Can you tell me how I can get my location put on my posting? Thanks, John
codes John, I think C-C means white on white no vinyl top. My GS is R-R and no vinyl top. My car doesn't have tilt either, it was basically a low option race car. I thought group 2 "F" is the remote mirror. I don't have a clue about 4S but would like to know. Surely a 65-66 guru knows.
Buick Codes John, Don is correct with his comments on the C C paint codes. You have an all white car - top and bottom. And 2 F is a remote mirror. I was hoping you had a tilt column. Guess I don't know what the 4S stands for. Can anybody help on that ? To get your location added go to USER CP in the upper left. Then EDIT PROFILE. Then go to the bottom of the page where it shows Additional Information and complete the Where you live section. Be sure to save your changes.
Gran Sport codes I have the same problem with my 65Gran Sport, thin pillar. On the cowl tag i can read as follows: 04E ST-65-44427 FB 192850 TR 197 CC Paint W-2XGP-4S And i am curious too, The car has CC paint code. Artic White, also on the roof, no vinyl. The car has power steering, but no power brakes. AM-radio (It works too!), Super-Turbine 300 and 3.36 non-posi. Code 4S, yes i am curious... Greetings from Sweden GSElis
