Hi Folks, please bring me up to speed on the 64 Wildcat Super Wildcat. Is the 64 Wildcat Super Wildcat like the Riviera Super Wildcat with its own engine block code like the Rivi KX? What is that engine code? Does the 4 speed 64-65 have its own 4 speed console or a simple boot on the floor? I have read the dealer installed dual quads came on the MT in 66 making it possible to have a correct car dual quads on either a Gran Sport or Base in both 65 & 66 as a deal installed option. Providing the correct valve cover (PCV), ignition wire holders, distributor, carb #'s & linkage were year correct between 4, 5.

I think the 65 Wildcat would have the be a Gran Sport in that year to be correct provided it had the optional engine code, but would also be correct with the 65 dual quad set up?

3 years of Wildcats and allot of questions. I have a 65 Le Sabre 4 speed set up complete with dual quads air cleaner to posi set up to fit a Wildcat just about to drop the $$ and make it mine, install in the right car for a correct or possible Tribute.

Was there SuperCat badging for the 64 Super Wildcat "Supercat"?
Would a 65 or 66 with the GS engine code w/ year correct dual quads w/o the X or Z engine still be correct due to the 65 & 66 dual Q's being a dealer installed option both years (especially if the car was already a "optional motor" car like a MW 66 Riviera Gran Sport?

    Mike-Ok, ready?

yes, the Wildcat Super Wildcat 64 would have a KX code engine, with 2x4 bbls.
same with 65, LX would be available in the Wildcat (I've got 2 of them)

there were 2 consoles in 63 and 64. Short console, just a small console around the shifter and a full console with the infamous shifter. As far as I know, none were just a boot.

Super Wildcat is just the engine designation for all 3 years 64,65,66. There is only an air cleaner stencil to say "Super Wildcat".

66 is the only year for the Wildcat "Gran Sport" badging and other options.

For 65, the Super Wildcat was installed from the factory, I assume the carbs were available through dealers but there were over 800 factory Super Wildcats in 65. I have the data for 66 but have not pursued the facts as others have. So the answer to your question is no for 65 and a low probability "maybe" for 66.

leSabre had no 4 speed option in 65 so maybe it was a column shift conversion? I'd like to see some pictures and help id it.

    Hi Ted,

I have my information corrected: the dual quads & 4 speed set up is from a 64 Wildcat w/ short console. Air cleaner to posi rear going in a 64 convertible will be a bastich car but a jaw dropper nonetheless. Wish me luck :)

Thank you for the excellent information.

No 66 4-speed Wildcats. There were some 3 on the tree 66 Wildcats but not many.
