Can anyone tell me how the body side molding is supposed to look after it's painted? I'm have a hard time with my plater wanting to paint too much of the side trim pieces. Or for that matter all of the trim pieces. He says there is black on the ribs and I say it is just in the lowest part between the ribs. If someone knows how this came from the factory please let me know or better yet post some pictures of the correct lines.
    thanks

John, here's a pic of my original '64 Wildcat trim. The black is only at the bottom between the ribs. NOT on the sides of the ribs. 64 trim.jpg

Sorry the focus is a little fuzzy but I think you get the idea. What body style are you building? Care to share any specs / info / pics on build? I am getting ready for a front suspension and driveline (universals/CV joint) rebuild this month myself.

Thanks for the pic mark. Any chance you could get a better pic so I can show it to my chrome guy.

as far as the build it's a complete frame off resto.

frame is powder coated and back together body back on and at the paint shop now.. I did my drive shaft a while back and cv joint can be fun if you've never done one b4.

let me find some pics for you

John, I'll take some better quality pics this weekend and post on Monday. I hope I am not too late. I've been assigned a new project to lead at work and have been trying to catch up on 3 years of program history in 3 weeks

Is there anything else that you need pics for? Other than a repaint and a few functional upgrades, my car is a survivor and is 90% original.

Nice work on your car. Do you have an ETA for its completion? Any hints on how to remove the front lower control arm bushings? :Brow:

I have some better pics of the trim. I tried to show how the black paint is only between the ribs, no on the sides of them. PM me with your email and I'll send them too you as they are to large to post here. Still looking for any hints for replacing the lower control arm bushings and the streering joint from the column.

I have tool tool that draws them out using a screw mechanism. Also used it to install them. I will post a picture for you tomorrow as I am not at home today.

I think you can make the tool using a pipe nipple and some threaded rod.

you will see when I post the pics
