I have to replace my shocks on a 1964 Special. Took a quick look and it seems fairly simple. Looking for some advice from someone who has done this. Two bolts on the bottom and one on top and is that it? Do I have to mess with the coil spring?? What is the easiest way?? Thanks from anyone who can help!

This job is simple, just unbolt the top first then the bottom and the shock will drop out.... that is on the front.... then do the same on the back.... helps to soak the bolts and nuts with pb blaster before you start....
You will need to jack the car up to get ground clearance.... be sure to use safety stands... they are too cheap not to....you do not want a car to fall on you,,, ever....
Suggest you buy gran sport shocks to replace the old ones if the car is not a gs.... gives a firmer ride.

Alot of time that top bolt will be rusted up pretty bad. I will use a deep socket with a long extension and bend the top bolt back and forth until it snaps. It goes pretty quick. and you don't have to mess with trying to hold onto the shock bolt when it spins. The springs stay put and don't need to be touched.

I cut my old one's off with an angle grinder.
