I started the car up this morning like I always do before I go to work and I take a quick walk around to make sure no one dinged up the paint job and I noticed a decent amount of white smoke and what seems to be water coming out of the pipes, both of them. one seems to be a little worse then the other, what could be causing this ?

Also does anybody know someone in Los Angeles are that does transmission swaps, I have a pontiac THM350 that I need to put in ASAP before my stockie ST-300 siezes on me...I have the new trans, a new BOP torque converter, and the kickdown cable, soo if anyone knows anyone reliable let me know ! :TU:

Did it go away as the engine heated up? Does the "smoke" smell sweet? Is it thick or vapory...?

Was it a cooler morning in LA today?

I didn't notice a sweet smell to it no and yes after the engine reaches a certain temperature it goes away, it was considerably cooler then it has been.

Also I noticed that when i'm driving and i come to a stop my oil pressure needle fluctuates up or down slighty, is this a sign of bad compression? I know I'm losing power somewhere but I just re did the vacuum system and the ignition system. It's running low pressure in drive about 15 to 20 psi. I just kept thinking that because my trans is dying that the loss of power when first acclerating was due to slippage in the bunk transmission, but now I'm thinking it may be a compression problem! I need to get a 350 and be done with this stupid 300, or have my 300 rebuilt...

15-20 psi at idle is fine, oil pressure has little to do with compression, the white smoke was condensation in your pipes...if it's running well, don't worry too much about it, you'll drive yourself nuts! Ask me how I know!

    ha thanks then

I'll try not to drive myself crazy. I need to get that trans job done though.....it's definately slipping right at the 25mph mark after that she runs great! The problem is I never want to slow down or stop, so i don't have to feel that power void right there....ha

I'm with you on the trans...that ST300 makes the car feel like a total dog! A TH350 is somewhere on my shopping list! Good luck!
