Here's a chance to pick up a rare Buick. The one you have been waiting for. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/3291024946.html Bob H.
Interesting. I thought 65 Skylark hardtop door panels would not fit on a post door, but they do on that car.
You can tell right away it is not a real Grand Sport--the "d" is missing in the grill emblem. :spank:
That car is the second `64 Gran Sport that I've heard of now. A guy in Pensacola has one that he insists is original dispite my efforts to educate him on it Then again, he's an idiot. Or a liar. Basically, the only thing rare about it is the grille emblem.
But as long as you don't start believing your own press, it does represent kind of a cool "what if?" project, like a Bucamino or GS wagon.... What if they had put a 64 Gran Sport on the market, along the lines of a 64 442 - small block, 4 gear, etc...? I know Doc built one but more along 65 lines. What if they released the 340 a couple years earlier? What if they did a Truly HiPo 300? What if they based it off the stripper Special, ala the Road Runner This car has the right bones for it.
I never ever told any body that my car was a ''factory'' car.... I always told them that I had built it myself.... but a lot of people who saw it , thought it was ''factory''...... in fact it was a junk yard Gran Sport....:Brow: But in a way it was better because the frame was lighter than a GS frame..... :Brow:
I've had my 65 frame scientifically lightened through a targetet strategic oxidation process. Totally worth it.
Back in the day,,, Pontiac produced a few cars with ''swiss cheese'' frames.... for drag racing... most guys nowdays dont know about it.... as I remember it , they were ''super duty'' big cars .....
I saw a 64 'vert GS for sale on e bay a few months ago. Owner claimed it was very rare and real. According to everything I have researched, no GS until 65. Michael
