    Hello all,
I have a 63 rivi, am in process of a resto...pulled the engine, transmission, drive line...Sent the Transmission to a local shop in Seattle tore it apart and came back with a number that actually pissed me off ( first time during this project I have wanted to burn the car). Anyway I feel better now, what I need to know is...<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    1) Is there a crate transmission anyone knows of that I can buy and bolt?<o:p></o:p>
    2) Is there a suggested Tranny tech that will charge me less than the idiot I talked to today?<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    3) Anyone know anyone in Seattle who can help?<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    Thank you all as always!!!!!<o:p></o:p>

It is possible to swap in a 64 - 66 nailhead turbo (ST) 400 (64 doesn't have the switch pitch feature) with the use of an adapter for the crank hub and the OE starter for the ST400.

HOWEVER - that's just the beginning. You'll need a different shifter, a different carburetor to engage the electronic kickdown feature of the transmission, a crossmember from a '64/65. a different length drive shaft, and the list goes on. Best to look for a qualified tranny shop that can work on the Dynaflow. Sounds to me like the guy doesn't really want to work on it so he priced it high to make it worth his time.

Look at the forum for transmissions on this site and see what someone there might have to offer.

PS - It's also possible to swap in a Chevy TH400 by using an adapter built by Bendsten's, but that adds another large junk of change to the cost. Might as well go for a 4 speed o/d if you're going that far.
