A month ago, I met an elder fello trying to sell his 62 Special Vert, I snapped pix and posted them. He brought the car with him from California to St Pete in 2015. Itza Black Plate Cal car he owned for 30 years with very solid floors, -quite unusual for an original 60's vert. ....
Originally born a 2 speed auto, he rebirthed it long ago into 4 speed. While he was having a rear sway added by a local ST Pete mechanical shop, he was told the tranny he had installed WAY BACK was a CORRECT date coded 63 Vette T10!!!... so he sold the trans for big bux. He failed to find another tranny so the car basically just sat in his garage for 4 years along with several Range Rovers...
This Buick Special has a rebuilt 198 V6 (shop in CA in 2011) with maybe 1000 miles. No trans. No BellH, no flywheel, so we cant run it...original carb, air cleaner, but NOT the original AUTO 2 speed tranny, as he left it in California...

MOVE FORWARD to a week ago:
He had it delivered to me, asking to sell it for him and get it out of his way. I removed the intake to inspect the inside of the block and it is virtually spotless! SO what, right., its still a 198 V6.
The car has no transmission....however, a COMPLETE 61-62 4 SPEED SETUP (less trans) including drive shaft, bellH, flywheel, Z bar, pedals...ETC.

    QUESTION IS. . . .

    1. WHAT is the value of a 62 Buick/olds/pontiac 4 speed setup??
    2. What bolt pattern would a 2 speed auto trans bolt up to a 198 and I assume 215?

    REASON:
I am not sure where to go with this project, ie: research a 2 spd auto trans and install it, for more $$.. or sell it as is without a trans? OR sell it with a 4 speed setup in the trunk...

    FEEDBACK/opinions are encouraged...

    Thank You in advance!

Someone was selling a 4-speed setup for these cars a while back, if the post can be found it might help set a price for the parts.

Those red wheels are 15 inch diameter by any chance?
