I am a serious buyer looking to get this car for my friend (his family car from when he was younger).

I am happy to provide my identity in private to anyone who may know Stacey and can smooth things over.

I offered to let Stacey do full due diligence on me, my identity, etc, but he ghosted me and stopped replying. I don't know anything about vehicles and Stacey seemed like a very trusted source/individual to purchase from...

Can anyone please help? This is my friends' dream car and I cannot find it anywhere else. I'm so sorry if you have had bad interactions before; however, everything is above-board here and I'm just trying to help my friend.

Happy to use whatever attorney or escrow service of your sole choosing if it makes you comfortable.

I'll do whatever is needed to buy the car, but Stacey blocked my number and stopped responding because he said he thinks I'm a scammer. I tried to make this the easiest sale of his life (send money, have freight service pick up vehicle) and it turned into getting called a scammer.

Maybe there was a misunderstanding but in this day and age, everyone is on high alert and between you being new on here, wanting to buy it sight unseen, wanting bank info, etc. I think any of us would've had a similar reaction. You buying this because it's your "friend's dream car" and not your friend buying it just adds to the suspicion.

The only way I'd sell a car of this value to someone I didn't know would be wire transfer (which does require the receiver's bank info.) or cash (& even then have to worry about counterfeit). It's a shame it's come to this but it seems scammers, & not saying whether you are or aren't, are becoming the norm rather than the exception.

    Hi Dano,

I did ask for wire information to send a payment as that is what is standard with auctions for artwork... I also said I would arrange for my freight service to pick the vehicle up... Somehow Stacey said that asking for bank wire info is a scam. Maybe it was ill-timed with whatever email he said he received, but that is life sometimes.

Again, I'm happy to go through escrow or whatever service makes you all comfortable... I don't see how buying a gift for my friend that he hasn't been able to find in years is suspicious. If anyone knows Stacey and can help smooth things over that would be great. I have certified funds ready and can arrange freight within 24 hours.

You may very well be legit and were trying to make this an easy sale but few Buicks sell that way & so I can see where asking right off for bank info would be a red flag and some ppl (not saying Stacey necessarily) might not even realize this is how wire transfers work &/or that they go through the Federal Reserve & are not reversible although I won't be suprised if the scammers (again, not saying you are) don't figure that one out too. There's also not a lot someone can do w/one's account # but you also have to understand that as I said, everyone these days is on guard and rightly so.

I don't know Stacey personally and if he's blocked you on here he may not see these posts even though it's his thread (he'll see the replies though). It does however seem more & more like this was a misunderstanding.

    I am legit.

    It is a misunderstanding.

I am a buyer trying to pay for something and make the transaction as smooth and easy as possible (transfer funds and pick it up at sellers convenience and location).

There's nothing that can be done with wire information other than to use it to send a wire.

You could phone him from another number or ask a friend to give him a call about the car.
But if I were you, I would shrug my shoulders, thinking it's his loss and look for another car.

And for some reason I think you're trying too hard now.......

I have offered to wire to an escrow service or attorney of Stacey's choice if he isn't comfortable taking a bank wire.
