Is there a difference between the generator for my 401 nailhead without
    a/c and a nailhead with a/c ?
Does the generator for the car equiped with a/c has more power / ampere ???

Yes, generator for AC car is rated 10-15 amps higher than non-AC. Regulators also different.

Usually the A/C cars had a double pulley on the gen. & were also 42 amps. Most had a cooling duct hose that ran to the rear of the gen. & that ran to the front of the rad. support for more air to help cool the gen.

Delco 1962 Catalog lists original generator for 1960 without AC is part number 1102181 and with AC is 1102197. Voltage regulator is D-621 without AC and D-624 with AC. The current setting on the regulator is 32-37 amps without AC and 42-47 amps with AC.
