Hi, Not mine but would be neat to see done https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/d/centerville-1959-buick-truck-el-camino/7096075914.html Regards,
Not a floral coach - none were made on Buicks between a one-off in '49 and sometime circa the '80s. Note the flat rear with no 'stylized' provision for a tail panel/gate; coachbuilders of the time would never have put something as 'undignified' as that out. It also would've had a '59 Buick dash, not a Chevy dash. This was a custom project someone built.
Yup; it's a 59 Chevy El Camino that has a Buick clip on it. Amazing how seamlessly it lines up. The rear fender line is pure Chevy, as is the rear of the box. It would have been interesting to see how the builder planned on integrating the Buick's rear fins on the car. And yes, that Chevy dash just doesn't cut it, considering a Buick one might actually fit in the same hole.
^ It has B-59 quarters on it; I would call that 'pure Buick'. It's clearly a Buick (engine/underhood, quarters, VIN) with a Chevy dash. And maybe the interior bed.
I did the same basic thing with the "truck" I built. I don't remember if I have it titled as a Buick Truck, but do have it registered as one. As all El-Camino's are considered trucks, all I had to do was put truck plates on it when it was first built. I later changed it to vanity plates, but kept the truck registration. I did however cut out the Chevy dash and put a Buick one in there. Duane
Why does this surprise you? Duane's GSX-Camino is titled as a Buick Truck. (PS - Duane types faster than I do...)
That is not an El Camino, it's a shortened wagon with back roof section cut off. It would be cool if they did the "bed" correctly and then cut and added the roof, A and B pillars from a '59-'60 Elky onto it. Then it'd be a nice, finished looking deal with proper fitting rear wrap around glass.
I like this one: https://www.hagerty.com/articles-vi.../09/1959-pontiac-el-catalina-the-ultimate-ute Patrick
Yeah, I don't know if it is still here, but that car was in Montana for a very long time. Super cool! I saw it at auction last year or the year before and it didn't sell.
I know I've seen a custom pickup of some period brand where they used a wagon's flip-up rear glass as the rear window of said pickup- that was different/cool. Like dis :
