    Hi,
i'm about to buy an engine and Dynaflow trans from a 1953 Roadmaster and I wonder if it is different from my 1956 Special one. My question is mainly for the trans, can i fit it in my car, is it the same dimensions ?
    Thanks, Franck.

I can't say for sure if it will fit but you will lose the variable pitch feature. I went the other way in the 70s when I put a 56 engine in my 53. It was a bolt in
no mods required but I kept the 53 Dynaflow. The 56 trans was bad so I didn't think about putting it in the 53. Good Luck.

The linkage from the accelerator pedal to the trans is different. You may have to fabricate something to work.
It is my belief, that the transmission is the same on the exterior.
Only, the inside, (variable pitch, for one, as Bob said) is different.
I'm happy to learn you have found a solution to your car's problem.
Good Luck, getting it back on the road. Bon Chance!
