I received my 17" Billet Wheels today from NewStalgiaWheel.com

I've received some E-Mails from guys on the board wanting to know how much they weigh.

I ordered wheels and tires and they were mounted and balanced by NewStalgiaWheel.com so unfortunately I don't know the weight of the bare rims.

    Front Wheels w/BFG T/A KDWS 245/45-17 46 LBS

Rear Wheels w/MT Drag Radials 275/40-17 49 LBS

The car is almost done but unfortunately we trailered it to Anoka, MN this moring to have the Computer super tuned on a chassis dyno so I have the wheels but no car to put them on! We should have the car back by the weekend so I'll post some pictures soon!

Local guy here recieved his just a while ago (bare), so figured I would post in case anyone is interested:

    17x8 is 27lbs

    17x9.5 is 28lbs

I was surprised by that actually as stockers are right at 27.0lbs each (15x7) and my 15x7 with 235/60R15 dayton tires (love those big white letters! ) are 51lbs each.

So they are lighter by the use of less rubber, but not as much as i would have thought. Of course, tires are all different (larger) as well.

Todd is it a Real GS?. I always wanted to build a GSX Clone and Put a Turbo Buick Engine in one. Love that Saturn Yellow. Nice Ride Todd

Thanks Jeff. My GSX started life as a Skylark. I did go to great lengths to aquire the proper parts to make it correct. (Other than the drivetrain) The front spoiler will be installed soon, we're making a Ram Air set up out of the Poston version.

What should the Car run at the Track with the LS2? How much HP and TQ did it Make? I have Mixed feelings about that LS2 Chevy engine in a Buick. I am just to Big of a Buick Fan. It is a very nice Car. Todd Nice work

I hear ya Jeff, I can't tell you how much sleep I lost over the thought of an LS2 in this car. I've always been somewhat of a purist but wanted to try the Pro Touring thing. The other option was to jump ship on Buick and build a Camaro or something. I think I would have received more grief by changing brands!

Haven't had the car to the track yet but we're hoping for 10 second ET's.

Is that Stroker LS2 ?. How much is the weight of the car. You said the car went to the Dyno. How much HP and TQ

The Motor was dynoed and the car was on a chassis dyno while we fine tuned the computer. Haven't had a chance to weigh it yet but having built so many GS's over the years I have a pretty good idea what it will weigh. I'm guessing but 3200 to 3400 should be in the hunt.

The HP and TQ numbers I'd rather not print as we've been keeping them a secret to this point. (Sorry) Gotta keep the hometown buddies guessing :Brow:

    sbbuick My driving scares people!

I have a question. Are the centers steel or is the entire wheel aluminum?

    Thanks!

    Todd,

I have plans to go with the 17" Billets too. Your car turned out ideal and I can't think of anything I would change other than a 427 :)

Can you provide the size and BS you went with. I'm playing with a 69, but I'm looking at maximum BS that I can get by with in a 17". I had planned 235 front with a 255/50 rear to get more height that I think the "skirted" 69 looks best with (27.1"). I'm trying to decide on 17*7 or 17*8 in the front to stretch out tire for a more responsive sidewall. Do you know your ride height in the front?

    Thanks for the trouble
    Luke

    Hi Luke,

    I went with 17 x 9.5 in the Rear with a 5.5" Backspacing.

    For the fronts I went 17 x 8 with a 4.75" Backspacing.

As for the ride height, I have the Global West Coilover shocks and springs so I can actually set the ride height where I want. (The coilover shock/spring combo are adjustable as are the shock settings) This is a great set up for me because I switch from the factory 15's at times and then back to the 17's. I set the front up a tad higher when running the factory 15's.

No clearance issues at all with the 17's, front or back.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

It is about a 33% markup on those 17x11's, my credit card would melt throwing that big of a number at it for 4 of those wheels!!!!!! :eek2:
